In fairness to MTB, the picture I submitted does emphasize the problem and was intended to do so. I am interested in finding the correct cause just as much as anything else. I could produce pictures that are not near as critical, but that doesn't take away the fact that they are there and bug the h--- out of me.

OK I'm now playing the waiting game with 3 sets.
    - Jack Hunt: - I got the same tracking e-mail and then notice as everyone else.
    - Fidelitrade: - They cashed my check so I'm guessing its on the way.
    - Dillon Gage: - The wire went through today. Have not heard anything else.

I read that the mint is going to make at least 100,000 of the 2011 issues so this will not be a problem from now on. But the 2010 will always command a slight premium I'm guessing.

Coin world reported today that the first two issues, Gettysburg and Glacier, 2011 5oz rounds will be made available to distributors on April 25. There will be 125,500 of each issue minted (if planchets are available). They are also making them available to many more distributors than the 2010 issues. There was no mention of any limits to the sellers premiums.

Only problem with the 2011's as I see it is that the AP's are going to cherry pick all of the good coins and send them in to be graded, so the only way you will get quality coins is to purchase sealed rolls or buy graded coins. Not likely that any of the AP's will miss out on any opportunity to make more money from these since they didn't have the chance to gouge on the 2010's...

Maybe a Dumb Question, I see Dillon Gage still has the order form on the home page to order the American the Beautiful Coins. Is it too late to submit an order? Thanks in advance.

If the page is still up I would do it for sure.

I would assume the AP's are still bound by a contract to sell at reasonable markup...so if they sell direct to the public, they have an obligation to uphold. Now, if they sell through the normal bullion channels, I do not believe the other layers of the chain are required to stay within "reasonable markup" and they will be able to cherrypick for graded coins...again though, this is bullion. Even the current sets, unless they are MS69 DMPL, the premium is not outrageous above what an ungraded set sells for....so the incentive to cherrypick may not be there.

Whatever the market will bear. No restrictions. The distributors will only pay a $9.75 markup on each coin, though.

Lets be honest when you deal in the numbers they deal in it is more then worth it. They even cherry pick Silver Eagles for MS70's, they will definitely do the same with these. If they can make an extra $50-$100 per coin which on average shouldn't be hard they stand to make quite a bit.

So say each of the AP's orders their share of the 127K~ coins from the first 2011 issue, roughly 11,500 coins each. If they can average an extra $50 profit on each coin thats about $575,000 extra they can make, on the first issue alone. So for the (5) 2011 coins each AP stands to make almost an extra $3,000,000 if they make only an extra $50/coin average.

Not bad for some cherry pickin'

If I buy any more from this series, it will only be the collector versions direct from the mint. Even then, it may be only 5 or 6 of the remaining pieces from select parks. I think you will not see the feeding frenzy on any other coins like you saw here. This will keep the market prices down and flipping will not be as profitable as it was. The mint claims it will produce more if the demand is there. The reality may be they will cut production from the 125,000 now planned, similar to the production cut they did on the Gold Spouse series, because of lack of interest. IMHO.

Forgetting many variables in your analysis...big one being that all coins will obtain the premium for being graded...2nd one being that only current 11 AP's get coins...3rd one being demand for parks beyond Yosemite, Yellowstone, and Grand Canyon will be as big, and finally that the AP's will continue to sell to the public which is not their business....all the above will fracture the total $3mil you estimated....

So how far will it fracture and will that leave enough room for the risk to get MS69DMPL which is only true money that will stay with these graded coins...almost down to that already with the small, limited release of the first 5.

Just checked ebay...Hot Springs ungraded $290, Hot Springs MS68DMPL $296 (loss when include grading fee), Hot Springs MS69 PL $400 (make $50 after grading fees, time, etc and that does not include ebay fees, paypal fees, etc....not much profit here), Hot Springs MS69DMPL $600-700 which should leave profit after all fees. Assuming ongoing National Parks will have similar performance to Hot Springs on average

How many new coins will grade MS69DMPL and how many lower level distributors are going to risk fees when 1 notch down to MS68DMPL or even MS69PL is a losing proposition?

$279.95 for the collector version when it comes out (first one due 4/28/2011):

    http://www.silvercoinstoday.com/201...-5-oz-silver-uncirculated-coin-prices/104075/

ETA: Also Apmex changed their ATB page earlier and the 2010 "coming soon" product and blurb is no longer there. Instead there is a replacement blurb advising you to set an alert NOW.

Given that they have very little time left to sell all of their sets if they want to be able to order the 2011 bullion coins (first two due on 4/25/2011) I'd say availability is imminent.

ETA 2: Given that there's nothing to set an alert for (unless I'm going blind?) I'd say it's very imminent.

    Collector Version

You folks going to pick up the collector versions of these things or just stick with the bullion. Or both?

Get both if I can. It would be an interesting way to accumulate 560 ozt of silver over the next 11 years, and quite an heirloom to leave behind since only 27,000 possible complete bullion/collector sets can ever exist.

Edit: It's also motivation/reward for me to stay off the cigs. I quit in January, and what I was spending should cover the annual cost of both unless silver goes seriously mental. I ask myself what I would rather have in 11 years: complete sets of both versions of these, or a massive pile of butts and ashes? Easy answer.

Just bullion version for me....... Too pricey to get them all. Might not even be able to get all the bullion coins if silver gets much higher.......

Well, only if they think going through all of them 'just one more time' to cherry pick wouldn't excessively delay completed sale of all those MS64s they are left with!

The Air-tite website had them for like $1.99 each, and like around $6.00 shipping when I bought mine a couple weeks ago.
