Is ebay the cheapest place to get one of these?

I would try to avoid eBay. Not because of fakes, (buyer protection has you covered on that) but because the prices are generally pretty bad. It may take a lot of searching before you can score a reasonable deal. Apmex is a good source, but sometimes if you're just buying a single coin, the shipping price can kill the deal. The best place to buy is usually a local coin shop. If there are none near you, perhaps try a pawn shop? Others could help you out with this better than I can.

As I said in the other thread avoid graded bullion. and try looking for British Sovereigns, French 20 Francs, Austrian 100 Coronaes or Mexican 50 Pesos

Well the french 20 franc has .1867 of an ounce in it, the british sovereign has 0.2354 of an ounce in it. There is also a half sovereign with 0.1177 oz but i am not completely familiar with this coin and the premium on it. if the premium on a half sovereign is as low as on the regular British Sovereign, then that would be your best bet. all of the other coins are much larger (around 1 ounce). I recently bought a british sovereign for 3% over the spot price of gold, so it cost me right around $340.

I'm not completely familiar with some of these other foreign coins, (along with the half Sovereign) so it would probably be best if I let someone else help out here.

I have found the best prices to be at my local coin shops. One here in particular was only 5% over spot which you'd be hard pressed to match on the Internet, whether Ebay, APMEX, or otherwise. If you can afford it I would suggest a 1/4 oz over a 1/10 oz to avoid a super high premium.

Anyone try this? What is the price of their ASE's currently. I assume it would have risen with the price of silver.

I got a similar deal from Universal Coin and Bullion a few months ago. It was a good deal and they don't really bother you after you get the deal. They shipped within or faster than the time frame they provided, the coins were fine and were in air tites.

Congrats! Very nice coin! If you can afford it, try to buy a 1/4 oz Gold american eagle next time. If not, just keep buying what ever you can afford. Like i said, I believe gold will rise high enough that the premium you paid won't matter much. Also, many believe that in the future, the gold american eagle will retain its premium, which means that when you go to sell it, you can charge a premium on top of its gold value too.

Also, try Gainesville Coins, I have been happy with their service so far. Their prices are a little less than APMEX and shipping is much less.
