I have 1 1996 2 1991 and 1 1986. Do any of these command a premium over spot? Any I should hang onto?
First you may want to do some research on your own. Check the mintage numbers for each ASE. Check somewhere like ebay's completed listings to get an idea of what each one has been selling for. That may help you make your decision.
You should be able to get close to spot but not exactly, a few bucks off under depending on who you go to. Some dealers pay $3 dollars under spot and other's pay less, some may pay a little more. Personally I would keep the first issue and that is the 1986. If you need the money go ahead and sell, if you don't then don't sell. I forgot, if you're talking about selling on ebay, go ahead and you will get better than spot!
Unless you absolutely need the money or no longer have an interest in the series , I would hang onto them. Silver isn't done going where it's going to be going.
I did check E-bay and it seems the 1996 sells for about 8-10 above spot, the others about 6-8 above. I really hate selling on e-bay, those vultures! I know dealers will almost always pay less than spot no matter what. I don't need to sell all of them, just enough to cover a few new coins I have bought and I'd LIKE to buy some more Morgans or Trimes but I don't have to.
You could sell on e-bag but don't expect to get what your item sells for. They now charge a % of the shipping charges. They think that the seller will lower the shipping charges so that the % charged will be less. Dummies, all it will do is make the seller charge more to increase their profits. Thanks to those who charge $164.00 shipping for a item that sells for .99cents
Tat's what some research said but like buttholes everyone has an opinion. some say they are not worth anything but spot, others say because of low mintage it's worth more. I was leaning on keeping the 1986 since it was the first year of issue and the 1996. I have some Trimes and Morgans I want to buy and this is the only way I will be able to buy them. As for listing them here I believe I have to have x # of posts and be a member for a certain amount of time otherwise I would sell them here in a heartbeat or try a trade or something.
This will stop sellers from overinflating their shipping and "handling" fees. Someone selling a $30 item will list it for $1 and charge $29 for shipping. I think the change makes sense. They also will be dropping the listing fee. I don't think this has gone into effect yet.
