Hi everyone, this here be my first post, I apologize if it is in the wrong area. Any way, the question I have is this: Where would I find the chart for the spot value of gold or silver us coins? I remember when Coins & Numismatic News would have the chart in or near the sections for coin prices. Thanks in advance for the help.

Check out these as well. http://www.kitco.com/charts/livesilver.html http://www.kitco.com/charts/livegold.html
I didn't know there was a spot value for coins. Every dealer is different and has a different spread. There generally is one spot price for each PM at any given moment in time and these prices are for what is known as good delivery bars.
I figured I need to have some type of basis to work with, so I used the information at coinflation to make sure I know the silver content of the coins. I took the coins total weight, then took the percentage of the coin that is silver. For example a 1964 or earlier "half" has 11.25 grams silver which is .362% of a troy ounce. I have this for each coin on a card I carry. I can then use spot price to make sure I know what my LCS is quoting me. I am not going to debate what is an appropriate premium, just how I determine my base line to keep the playing field fair.
Thanks folks for lending assistance here. I've been away from coin collecting for a few years and trying to get myself "back in the saddle" again. Hopefully the "investment committee" (my wife) won't be too stringent on my activities.
