ASE collection books... if full, worth any more than the silver itself?

I picked up one of the Littleton ASE collection books from a guy, full from 1986--2009 (26 coins) for $36 per coin...so less than I could buy them in my local shop or Ebay, so I grabbed them.
Are the complete sets worth any more than any other 26 ASE's?
I'de say these are in ordinary condition...nothing graded or anything. It's cool to look at....

Welcome to CT! Sounds like a good deal to me. Less than $2 per coin over spot. Some years carry a little bit of a premium (1996 due to lowest mintage). Congrats! TC

 

The set is worth more than the individual coins. Plus, the Littleton book is worth something. You did very well.

 

if your book is only up to 2009 then you only have 24 eagles.

 

Geez..you don't even KNOW me and you are insulting my math.
It's got a 2006 and 2006-w, and a 2007 and 2007-w...so 2 more make 26.

 

no it just stood out to me because i have a dozen complete sets, i was buying them on ebay and know how many oz's up to what year, i bought some short sets too. sorry

I'm a total newbie to silver. Hadn't even THOUGHT about collecting/investing in it. I had a customer come into my retail store about 6 weeks ago wanting to purchase something...and then offered to pay with silver bars. I had never had anyone do this before.... but it was unusual enough and these were good customers...I just decided to do it. I gave the customer her merchandise ($1100 sale price) and she gave me what you see below. I've been buying silver ever since. I'm up to around 140oz. right now. I only buy with spare cash and the price has to be good.

 

That was a good deal.
There are a couple years in that group with a decent premium.

 

Be careful though!
There is a thread here about a Chinese version of eBay with fake gold and silver bars, as well as fake ASEs, AGEs, and even Platinum eagles!
1 oz APEs for 30 bux each!

 

So far, everything I've actually purchased came from a buddy who has alot of coins/gold/silver or my local dealer (other than the above bars). I have the original reciept on the bars from when the customer bought them for $8 an oz. some time ago.
I'm definitely keeping my eyes open to funky deals though... thanks.

 

Just a thought, if you aren't an expert you may wish to invest in a scale and a silver test kit. I like to think I can recognize good silver after 30+ years, but I use the scale now and then just to be sure. The test kit is invaluable for bars, since there is no size to compare to.

 

Yea..that's probably a good idea. I had the above bars tested at my local shop, but they charged for that...so doing it myself would be helpful.
