Just wondering if anyone has ever swapped ounce-for-ounce 90% for generic/gov't silver products? say, a roll of half dollars (7.23 oz) for 7 american eagles.

most people pay over spot for eagles. lousy deal for the eagle owner

i have done an even-steven swap ... however it was at a dealer that i've done a lot of business with ... done in late 2009 before the steep run-up in prices ... and the dollar amount was relatively small.

No but I once contacted a large dealer about trading in alot of silver for platinum, the price I was quoted was better than their advertised sell/buy prices for cash. I didn't do the trade and I'm glad, silver has outperformed platinum.

Face to face would be best. Some people might be heavily weighted in one direction, and would like to quickly and without fees swap say a roll of franklin halves (7.23 oz) for seven eagles or maples.

there's no way I'd trade maples for junk silver.

I'd never swap a bullion coin, especially legal tender, for rounds, bars, or junk silver!
ASEs always bring a premium, while at the other end of the spectrum, junk 90% coinage can be worn so bad that the silver doesn't measure up to the weight expected.

I can imagine trading ASEs or the like for UNC 90% coinage, straight up oz for oz...
    That's about it.

why? more than likely a premium was paid on the SAE.
