Well, things aren't going to be getting better so that is a strong reason to believe that new highs SHOULD sustain. But who knows.

Ok, enough! This was borderline political rant for awhile, and now exceeded. Only warning!

The big trend of the last couple of decades has been formerly poor countries getting rich. Some fraction of the demand for PMs, I don't know how much, is from people whose culture values PM ownership and who can now afford to buy.

I think what all of this highlights are the different economic world views that people hold. Stroligep seems to favor to Keynesian philosophy while others are mostly Supply siders or hold Austrian thought. These competing theories will never find agreement (as we see here) because one believes in active government intervention in the economy and social policy and the other believes in an economy that is direct by the free market with very little government intervention. As Vess1 mentioned there is enough blame to go around and one thing that I have learned is that politics changes people and only the strongest of individuals can maintain their servant heart when they get to Washington. That's a large part of why we face so many social, economic and geopolitical challenges. The instability left in their wake is bullish for PM's.

Well, I don't fully agree with that either, but I've done my soapbox bit.

BTW, yak, apology accepted and no hard feelings. I guess I'm just the liberal of your nightmares.[IMG]

None taken... You're absolutely right...there are Progressives in both parties. America used to be about initiative, thrift, self reliance, and compassion for others. Now it's consumption, debt, laziness, and envy. For the first time in my life, I genuinely fear for our future. :(

Yeah, that must have been very therapeutic for you :D. Did not intend to put words in your mouth, my point was that this is a very good example of people who disagree because of fundamentally different economic world views. If forms the basis for a lot of "good discussion". BTW, lov'n that $34 sliver!
