From whom did you buy it? I'm assuming it's a raw piece?

Fixed that for ya. Or at least what I think you were trying to say, that was illegible as hell.

    Go get hooked on Phonics.

My opinion, if you're an investor, buy bullion. If you are a collector, buy coins. It sounds like you're an investor and would probably be happier converting your coin into bullion.

i am doing very little stuff with numismatics, the person who i got the coin from is a friend who is a dealer and i am learning slowly from him for which i am greatful,,,,as far as the investing goes,,,yes, thats why i want pm's,,,bullion. My gut was to trade it for two 1/2oz'ers

If you're investing in bullion, stick with the one ounce coins. The fractionals, premium wise, don't measure up.

The coin you purchased and price is fine. Can you post a photo?

Frankly the 1907 Coronet in 55 - 60 IS basically a bullion coin. It will go up and down pretty much based on the spot price of gold and it will sell for a little more than a bullion coin does.

AGE's have 100% of their value tied up in the gold itself. So if you know spot you know value. This piece will have some of it's value tied up in the numismatic value as well as the gold value. So you have two factors that will come into play when dealing with it's sale. It is up to you to decide which way to invest. If you never look at this coin, and lock it away some where until your ready to sell it, I would buy the AGE. Your not enjoying the collectors value at all.

i like it ... i would probably send it to a TPG just to make sure it's not counterfeit ... i dont trust anything these days (with all the chinese fakes floating around)

If it's genuine ... i say keep it ... it's gorgeous ... i like the historical appeal ... and it might be more fun to show others as most people have never seen an old (previously circulating) U.S. gold coin

I'd say it was a higher grade than what you suggested in the opening post if it wasn't for the wear on the high point in her hair. Nice coin.
It seems pretty clean in the fields taking into consideration it is a gold coin.
