So anybody think these new coins next year are gonna be dumb? I mean, really. You NEVER hear of palladium, only gold and silver, and on occasion platinum maybe. So is this just another on the mint's part?
What do you mean you never hear of palladium? It's pretty popular, and there are a number of coins made from it; the Canadian Maple Leafs probably being the most common. I assume you're referring to the American Palladium Eagles, I'm looking forward to seeing the design.
Perhaps you need to read more (learn more, as your new years resolution claims that you will be doing) and post less new threads that show your lack of knowledge on topics... There has been plenty of interest here on CT and amongst bullion investors. Once the designs are closer to being realized you will start seeing more collector buzz, especially if the Mint will indeed sell numismatic versions. Here's something to help you catch up and get started on your new years resolution... American Eagle Palladium Bullion Coin Act Introduced in House
Check out this link for some details: http://mintnewsblog.blogspot.com/2010/12/american-palladium-eagles.html I personally think these will sell out quickly due to the UHR, classic design, and greater affordability than the 2009 UHR gold coin. TC
I plan on ordering both versions (Unc. and Proof). I hope they make fractionals because I will buy them too!
I recently bought a 10 ounce Palladium bar and I can tell you that there is a lot of interest in Palladium. I only had that bar for 3 days while I have had some silver bars for a couple of weeks.
While I don't think you will be seeing any "we buy palladium" infomercials any time soon, it is definitely a popular investment choice and I am looking forward to seeing the new coins!
As of this month, palladium in 2010 is up greater than 80%. Low supply and high demand account for this. Plenty of people have indeed heard of palladium. Platinum hasn't performed quite as dynamically as palladium, it is up just shy of 20% this year.
I love palladium, got it cheap. I would welcome the chance to get some US palladium, nothing against Canada just got to support the homefront.
A year ago palladium was sitting at $392... today it's at $793. Not a bad return for those who jumped on it. I, for one, didn't.
I jumped on it in March but I also jumped on Platinum too. Wish I had gone all in on Palladium. I could sell some now and still get a decent deal on Platinum. Premiums are high on Platinum and Palladium. If you go to sell you'll only get spot but as a buyer get ready to pay atleast 10% over spot. It's not like gold. You've got to want to hold these metals.
Well I guess the return is ok. But coinworld and Numismatic news take up to much time on bullion and comemmoratives. They really should cover more real coin news versus bullio, bullion, and more bullion.
You placed this thread in the bullion investing section but seem more worried about numismatic related topics, not investment consideration. You are addressing the wrong readership in this section of CT. If you have a problem with Coin World and Numismatic News, then you should write a letter to the editors of those publications. Other than that, I don't see how much of what you have to say here in this thread amounts to much of anything relevant but to allow you to garner attention when you are bored, to allow you to complain about anything under the sun and continually show your lack of information about this topic.
