For those of you who want to collect a whole set, patience will be needed. Not only does the law allow for a territorial issue, it also allows for a second park to be honored from every state and territory, if the mint so chooses. So it will only take you twenty two years to complete, at what ever prices will exist in the silver market. Make sure you get the extra heavy picture hangers for your wall display!
We talking about U.S. Bullion, not someone's used shorts . The Mint was perfectly clear on this with their authorized Distributors. If you sell something that isn't your's to sell or have an exclusive right to sell, than it is illegal . None of the authorized dealers are offering pre-sales are they ? They must first take possession from the mint. Those pre-sales that caused this craziness to begin with will be honored, but there was no legal right to do it to begin with. I'm not a lawyer , but I have a fairly could concept of what is or isn't legal. The authorized dealers won't be selling these, until they actually take possession. Read the notices from AMPEX, perhaps in there your might find that stated.
LOL. Let's see: 56 coins already planned, bullion and collectors versions of both = 112 coins @ 5toz each = 560toz. If they all get a second go around, that would be 1,120toz or 76lbs 12.8oz to hang off the wall.
There is also an issue of intellectual property. These are a Trade Mark item under the U.S. Mint. Any un authorized pre-sales, auctions etc are not permitted under EBAY Policies.
Mint issued bullion coins do not fall in this category . Unless I missed that somewhere ? I don't want to further debate this issue, it's late , I'm tired and going to bed. Have a good night.
When are they gonna release these bloody things?!!!! :headbang::stormy::so-sad::heated::hammer::desk::rolling::binky::bangg::scratch::rollureyes::axemeethead::sniper:
I KNOW RIGHT! I am trying my best to patiently wait for my email from APMEX regarding my refund etc. but I guess since I paid by check and I am only 6 business days in they are gonna hang onto my money for a few more days before contacting me. Maybe they are working it out so they arrive on everyones door on Christmas Eve, by a fat man in a red suit
Actually, I don't even have an order in, yet. I'm waiting for the next wave of availability to get my order in. Problem is...I gotta keep watching the computer so I can react as soon as they become available...doesn't give me much time to do my REAL job!
Has anyone else beside deuce78 received their refund notification yet from APMEX? i was one of the original 1000 ordered paid by Credit card and still haven't received anything yet. I did have another item on the order and am wondering if that is the cause for the delay.
I spoke with a representative from AMPEX this morning. I was informed that they hadn't even " taken possession " of their Authorized Dealer Allocation. I would assume, that all those customers with standing orders will be filled shortly, and be credited for any overpayment , promptly . No one needs to be concerned about getting your proper credit. At least I hope not.
LOL. At a guess, any day now. According to the figures I've seen at various sites, which may not have been completely up-to-date, 5 APs ordered their full allocation which was 3,000 sets each (15,000 coins total). So in total they ordered 15,000 sets (75,000 coins). The APs who chose to participate were able to order the unallocated coins as of yesterday, 20th December. As 6 APs chose not to participate (supposedly) that leaves 18,000 sets (90,000 coins) to be divided amongst them. Assuming they all ordered their full share of the unallocated coins, that's another 3,600 sets (18,000 coins) each. So if all of those assumptions are correct, you should be looking at 5 APs with 6,600 sets each. The unknown factor here is that the Mint stated in their memo that the participating APs could order the unallocated coins on 20th December, however they did not give a deadline for those orders to be received. So it's anybody's guess when the participating APs will know what their actual final allocation ends up being. They should, however, be assured of at least their initial allocation of 3,000 sets each by now.
I guess you didn't know they were busy with Moy's exit interview... maybe they will finally put these on sale once the door slams on his back.
Wow, I know that I'm coming in late to this thread but the price of all five of these are over $1,800 on ebay with people bidding. The individual coins are going for nearly $500 each on ebay. Why doesn't the mint sell these to us collectors? They are selling for over 3 times melt with the price of silver nearing $30. These lucky distributors are making a killing off this one and I really can't blame them. The market is crazy. I'm betting that they'll come down in a couple of years.
Ship date of December 24th??? Well according to the email I just got thats the date... Dear Valued Customer, You are receiving this email because you ordered one or more of the America The Beautiful five coin sets after the initial launch by the U.S. Mint of the program on December 1, 2010, and before the U.S. Mint amended the details of the program on December 6, 2010. As you almost certainly know, the U.S. Mint re-launched the program on December 9, 2010, but, only with some substantial changes that neither you nor we expected. Most importantly, the U.S. Mint imposed a prohibition on the sale of more than one set to a customer in a single household. In addition, they set a maximum price of $859.95 for these sets. That change was obviously beyond our control and we have adjusted our orders accordingly. We have revised your order to meet the U.S. Mint’s mandate. You will be charged for the one set as shown below in accordance with the amended details the U.S. Mint has set forth regarding the sale of the sets. This price is lower than the price at which you ordered. Order ID Quantity Allowed Sales Price Shipping Cost Coupon Order Total Amount Received Refund 4331663 1 859.95 19.95 (10.00) 869.90 1409.95 540.05 A refund check will be included with your shipment, which we anticipate will be by Friday, December 24, 2010. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this matter and, as always, value our relationship with you. If you have any questions in regard to this matter, please contact me directly. Something's up - as you were receiving that email, one of the other APs changed the date on which they would start taking orders from 3rd January 2011 to 17th January 2011. So Apmex is saying they'll ship on Friday while another AP is putting the order acceptance date back 2 weeks?
Thanks for posting that information. At least other AMPEX customers can be confident of any refund along with their order, even if they can't confirm a ship date , until they receive their allotment.
