At this pricing I am out. In the long run these are 5 ounce slabs of silver. Remember, they have a $0.25 face value on them....that is the legal tender...they are a novelty...let the collector community go nuts...however, the Mint and the Treasury need to use this as an example to limit the profit of their dealer network, or remove it all together....the internet and distribution are so much easier now, this profit taking by the dealers may be used to eliminate the network all together.

    Thanks Coinman!

Want to buy my two sets? I will sell one for $1,800 or both for $3,500! :)

Get them in your hands and list them on EBAY for $2k The price will go there in the short run. Day traders love scarcity...and it is there. Use your knowledge to build a profit...cool. I will buy them in two/three/five years for spot plus a little and my kids will inherit the collection of our national parks history (different incentive). Make sure you do not hold them too long.

It is truly a gamblers choice to make. However, when your raising the playing field by upping prices, you also restrict the size of your future market. You are also going to be dealing with more knowledgeable people. Many invester's go through a broker or have an individual contact at an auction house. These are the knowledgeable people. I don't think those individuals share the opinion that this commemorative has a high investment value. Therefore the market value will decline over time; so I would get on eBay and list it now before the novelty wears off. You need to find someone with a little knowledge but not too much knowledge. IMHO.

APMEX has them up. The set is $1395. So per oz were looking at $55.80 per oz!!
Really. Even though I want one, I'd rather go for the 2011 eagles. This must be due
to the low mintage. Of your looking for 15 oz of silver why not just get a bar of
silver. Same metal, way less expensice.

I'm sure they will increase in value & that is part of the appeal. But I'd rather just
stick to the silver rounds altogether. Anyone going to buy at this price?

Well I couldn't take it. I went ahead and ordered 1 set using a promo code and paying by personal check to keep the cost down and total with shipping is $1,409.95.... UGH.

Once I free up a few more bucks i'll probably get another one just because even though prices are stupid high for these the bottom line is they are a limited mintage and will sell for a premium on the secondary market - especially when the mint releases the "P" mint ones.

All in all i think this set will be a winner - look at how many people were all gloom and doom about the 2009 UHR Gold double eagle complaining that "it will always be a bullion coin" etc... Well look at completed listings on Ebay and the cheapest one you will find sold for $1800+ and most go for well over $2K. I bought 2 of those bullions coins at $1289 each I think and had one graded at MS70 and am keeping the other raw.

So go ahead and gripe about these just being 5 oz silver bars - i'll buy the ones you guys don't!

OH and FYI - check Ebay now - it looks like over 17 sets have been sold for over $1700 each....

Let the battle of bullion vs. collectible begin!!!!!

VERY NICE! Have you worked how how much you will actually make after E******* and paypal make their money? If I recall it comes to something like 15-18% - calculated at 15% thats about $262.50 they are making off your deal so in reality by the time you ship/insure etc it doesn't work out so well - but it does show a high demand for this product.

debating on weather to order a second one right now... only 164 left at APMEX, for now...

APMEX is doing something that most companies do. It's called pricing a product at whatever the market will bear. Some of the people complaining are the same ones buying them. If it's too high, don't buy. Apparently it isn't too high or nobody would be buying them. I would wait to see what others will be charging before driving a stake through their heart. If APMEX is charging more than anyone else does, they won't sell as many and will lower their price. Otherwise if you want to dance you gotta pay the band.

I'm happy with my money right where I can get it when I want it. Just what do you folks they are buying these on speculation, think anyone is going to be paying you for these ? All this hullabaloo is nonsense and serves no numismatic purpose or reference at all .

I must say I was a late bloomer on this and had to pay $1289, but definitely still worth it!

Take the fool's money and run .This is nothing but a rip off promoted by the UNITED STATES MINT. They should go bankrupt if this is their best effort to keep financially sound. This is the worst scandal in the entirety of the Mints History !! SHAME !!! I'm ashamed . So ashamed, I don't think I'll ever support this mint again, with another purchase from the U.S. mint again . Nor shall I purchase any secondary market U.S. Mint products. Shame !! I'll seek my treasures from the Canadian's or British Mint. Shame on the U.S. Mint and it's directorship !! They are in your face, exclusionary, profit mongers !! Shame.

I've been waiting for these coins to come out and decided not to get them. First, they are way over priced. Second, if so many people having problem with proof eagles I would expect similar problems with these coins. Third, I have no idea how to store them.I expect the mint version coming out next year will probably cost about the same. I'll wait til then.

Looks like APMEX just sold out their stock.

Does anyone have any further information on the mint release of the collector's version? I haven't heard anything about that but saw a few people mention it here. Have they said there definitely will be a collectors version?

According to the last press release from the profit monger , the only means of obtaining these are through select secondary profit mongers . Now if that isn't shoving it up your ........ , I don't know what is . The folks that are buying at these prices will have a very limited number of those that will be willing to pay you above the initial cost. This piece will go into numismatic history as one of the worst scandal's committed by the Mint on it's citizens , as far as I am concerned. This is nothing short of a collusion against it's very citizenry that has supported it's fiscal stability . This is all backwards, and exclusionary at best.
