What is the typical price over spot that dealers charge at coin shows? I am looking for a roll of 2010's or commons. I'm not talking about the "damaged, scratched, or hologram ones. Krispy, this may be the week I finally pull the trigger on a roll. I'll be looking closely at the prices at the Fort Worth show in Texas this weekend.
Good luck to you swagge1. Shop around, run the numbers and only commit to a purchase when you are comfortable and ready to do so. If you feel any pressure or second guessing about your investment decision, there's no hurry or obligation to buy just because you are at this show. You have certainly taken your time to this point and you have certainly chosen an excellent choice in bullion to go with. :thumb:
Naw, no pressure here. If the coin show prices can beat APMEX and Provident Metal prices then I'll likely buy here. Its also an added bonus that it will be a cash transaction.
Check the prices at Ampex and Provident before you go and see what they're charging over spot. Right now Provident is charging 10% over spot for 20, while Apmex wants 12.1% for 20. LD, only $2, I'm coming to Indy next time I want some. Nice website! Do you buy slabbed coins? i.e. GAEs and ASEs
Coin shows are usually a good bet on low premiums. Sure, many shops may be at the same prices, but many aren't. Plus, you don't have to leave the building to shop the competition when you are at a show. But, if you go by the 10% rule, and know the spot price, you will automatically know if you are looking at a deal.
I was at a local show this weekend, most dealers were in the 29-30 dollar range. I did see one dealer had his marked at 27 each.
I was able to score a roll of 2010's today at the show for $29 each. That works out to about 8% above spot.
