Its a German term which stands for "the fatherland lined with gold/silver" I am so sorry i should not assume all ppl understand or even know this term.

I would say that You got a good deal....I want to say that the mintage on that Kookaburra was 30,000. I could be wrong, Idk. Very rarely do I find anyone in my area selling any of the Australian issues for close to spot.

I think that if you are happy with the purchase and like the design of the coin, it was a good deal. I sometimes do the "impulse buy" of some coin that just catches my eye.

Yeah I think that was a good deal on the Kookaburra. I have seen much higher premiums on Kookaburra coins in the past. Congrats on your purchase. :)

I like the Kookaburras and have about 6 of them. $35 - $40 is about the right price although you will see them higher sometimes. I like them because each year has a new design.
