I only had uncirculated and pre-WWII coins graded... and it was $150 for 8 coins to be graded... the value it gives to the morgans and the VERY RARE 1916-D mercury will be well worth the $150 spent on PCGS membership. IDK I don't see a downside to buying uncirculated coins and grading them yourself (sending them in). I louped the $100 Eagle and put it at MS-68 IMO, saw 2 flaws, figured 2 levels down. We'll see, in 6 weeks.

I can't say I wasn't dissapointed they gave me a '98... by far the highest mintage Pt Eagle out there, but it is old and maybe that makes up for the ridiculous mintage (130k!). I will definetly buy already graded and dated coins in the future, I think APMEX has a stock of 98's they're offloading before they offfload the 97's, then the 98's, 99's... and so on as mintage goes down. Or they will get the lower mintage coins graded in bulk and sell them as such. They do have stocks of 2004 1/10th oz $10 eagles... only 1 2005 and weirdly they priced them the same... both rated MS-69 and both rated NGC... the PCGS 2004's were an extra $10.... is PCGS better than NGC? I've noticed they price PCGS coins higher given same rating and year/mintage.... odd.
Probably one of those that think they are too intellectual.....making kids write an entire essay only to be outdone by "why not?".... My friend had a co-worker like that who had a PhD in engineering and all day he was always thinking about something, but ask him to get work done and he never does.....
Hey I went to SDSU, It's not the college or the teacher that makes the student... in fact I'd say my education, although sufficient, didn't add nearly as much as I thought it would to my knowledge and that's the main reason I decided to not go to UCSD for a Ph.D in Psychology....80k i can spend on cars, bikes (NOT harleys, or choppers... those are obnoxious and overpriced), and coins. You can learn everything a Ph.D Psychiatrist knows at the L.A. County Library. I had a marginal 1420 SAT and a 2.1 GPA from highschool, no sports or extracurriculars... My brother had a 1510 and a 4.5 "adjusted" GPA (3.8 real) and got into Berk, he works at starbucks, and got a B.S. in Computer Science. Also, My IQ was tested @ 138 while he had a 127. That was my top score tho, I got a 125 @ age 8 and a 134 @ age 12... last was age 16 so it's possible there's some sort of inflation on the Stanford Binet scale. Anyway IQ ain't **** if you don't use it.... it's been proven that rich people are no more intelligent than poor people of the same age/race. I think there is a factor unmeasured by IQ test.... Drive or "Go-to-it-iveness" that means far far more than IQ or smarts or intelligence or whatever you want to call it. Those who WANT to succeed will while those who don't, for whatever psychological reasons, won't regardless of how intelligent they are. IMO my brother is a fool for staying in Berkeley.... jobs are so scarce and he has to volunteer his time at the university pro-bono. If I were him I'd take the GMATs and head to Stanford. But sadly I'm not him, j/k I'm cool w/ being the lazy son. I still make more money, lol.

No sir. Simply an OCD thing, I think. More precisely, it's a "no you can't, YES I can" thing. City girl turned country or something, after 50 years. I ran into a Bobcat while hiking through my property. No one believed me. For a year I have obsessed on him/her. Book studied the bobcat, how to find him, how to call him in, how to identify the tracks, what to bait with, obscure ways, straightforward ways, etc.. Beautiful, stealthy creature, and so far I can't get ahead of him. This is the year. I've decided to go out with the pro's now, they'll show me how it's done, and then I'll come back to my property, and find him on my own. In the meantime, I have begun a bobcat collection. So far it only has a beautiful etched gold and silver folding pocket knife, some photos, and some frou-frou things. I've been working on camo toothbrushes (now that is not yet to market) but one of the designs has a bobcat on it (design finished only a month ago)(others include a bear, a buck, a doe..) So, a coin is a natural. I have a collection of odd coins, having nothing to do with bullion, but some from China, Russia, Israel, Mexico, and a few others, all collected by hand. They are displayed in a curio. I'd like to add a bobcat. If there is one. Now you know. (p.s. Along with the bobcat, I've got one piebald deer in me. That's it.)(Otherwise, photos only.)
I prob shouldn't have posted those scores.... let's say I lied, my IQ is 102 and I never went to college Anyway that was way off-topic... Let's hope this isn't a bubble that bursts soon.... except for palladium, that needs to burst... bad.
WHY is a 5 yo chinese silver coin worth it's weight in gold? What is the deal with chinese Pandas! I got my hands on one so far but still.... I dunno if it will reach what the 2000-2005 Pandas are worth. One coin I want to buy but shouldn't is an 1846 X-F $10 Eagle.... thing costs 10k! Mintage was 5k! There have to only be 20-50 left, and maybe 5 in this condition.
Modern Silver just shouldn't be worth that much, proof or not. Maybe the Chinese are creating a "Silver Gap".... we'll have to match them with our own Silver coins of equal amazing appreciation... it's the new liquid helium (-400F and more) war race.... /sarcasm

I have located the info I need re: Bobcat Coin so no need for anyone to keep their eyes peeled.. Personally all this movement in gold & silver makes me nervous, wondering what the heck is going on. I think I'll quit looking at the numbers for a while. Lucy
Take the weekend off from the PM numbers... and feel free to tell us/me about your bobcat coin. I wasn't really sure what you were looking for in the first place. I bet you can teach us a thing or two. BTW, there is a General Discussion forum (you have to opt in to use it) here if you like to have your own thread and keep each thread to one topic (on topic).
