I think it's mint error or broken die marks. What else causes a groove in the metal.
That 'over used die' would have to be broken at that point thus causing a die error with lack of metal in those areas.
Wouldn't over use dies cause it to appear as 'worn' but not in a gouge as in missing metal, that is a groove in the metal which looks like chisel...

If either of you look at the east window, it looks like chisel marks, not worn at all. Do you both need a bigger picture ?
those are grooves not 'WORN' , it's actually missing metal in both areas
