Sorry, Peter, what desertgem Jim edits as political is INSANE ON STEROIDS. I am outta here. Delete my account. I'm taking you off my Twitter feed. Enjoy Jim World. I sure don't! It's the ANA site exclusively for me from now on.

      Hi Peter,

I just tried to add an entry in the German States forum, but when I clicked on "Upload a file" my browser went into endless wait with the message "Transferring data from www.cointalk.com..." Stopped and restarted, but gave up after 5 minutes.

Hi Peter, Mike Nelson here (ToughCOINS) . . . I've tried claiming my dealer listing in the dealer directory by picking on the Join Listing button (called out to me by Matt at LDRC). Unfortunately, no such button appears to me when I enter my dealer listing. Am I doing something wrong?

I "dummy up" at ANA shows when I hear misinformation, except to question speakers (some REALLY hate that -Richard Nachbar comes to mind), andmaybe I need to apply that more widely.

Perhaps I need to learn to back away and chill when I read stuff I know isn't true. A lot of people in coins are used to being "the smartest guy in the room", and I'm as bad that way as anyone else. Maybe that explains my need for heavy duty BP meds, right? We can be a really contentious bunch of buggers.

Point is, I'm beginning to detect a whiff of viewpoint-specific choices in deletions by SOME moderators, and I think you'll agree that is a problematic place to end up. Please do ask Matt Dinger about me. He has credited me with hooking up his and Mike's podcast with the ANA, and the co-promotion that has ensued.

Thank you for responding, and I can get a bit snarky, but it's' probably just my fetish, but backhanding Ms. Harker's report by making veiled references to pictures of wine bottles and food strikes me as edgier than talk about Weimar and Zimbabwean inflation, which was deleted as political.

Indeed, a coin without politics is merely a medal. Ne pas?

      Peter,

Please understand that I am under a whole bunch of stress right now due to my son's fairly scary medical prognosis. That said, I find the fairly heavy-handed moderating here troublesome. The "1950's American TV" standard I originally though was an attempt at irony. I have since found otherwise. I do see its purpose though. The political prohibition, though, I feel creates a quite, ohh, unnatural setting.

Hi Kurt, I'm very sorry to hear about your son. I will keep him in my prayers. I looked over that thread, and didn't see anything too bad in there. The moderator wasn't chastising anyone, just trying to keep the topic from getting overly heated.

We have experienced what can happen when political discussion goes unchecked, and I do know that we're not perfect and get things wrong a lot but we try and most of the people here on CoinTalk enjoy the discussions and appreciate the tenor we try to keep here.

      Howdy Peter-

I really dislike the new coin margin format. It squeezes all the content in the middle of the screen and makes a large vertical stack. The font also appears bigger and more chunky. Visually, I think it is a major step backward while functionally I believe it is less user friendly.

Thanks for the feedback. It's still very much a work in progress. On the font size thing, if you use the control and - does it make the font look better for you?

      Hello Peter,
I see three forums administered by you ,
I was wondering if it was possible to start a new one for Antiques, with subsections for Glass & Pottery, Silver
If you were willing to start a new forum up I would be willing to be one of the moderators and could almost be certain of at least 50-100 members joining within the first month, with many more once word got around.
Let me know what you think .

Is this an actual course of action? is there going to be an antique talk? that would be cool.

Hello Peter, I have had a problem trying to upload files to Cointalk. Doug was able to upload the file with no problem, but I still can't. Doug suggested I inform you. Details are available in my posts to thread "Why can't I upload a file" in the World & Ancients forum.
