I look at your counterfeit coin. Is $2.50 the price? If it is send me the invoice. Don't have any counterfeits.

Hi, thank you! No, just the denomination. It's a contemporary counterfeit that circulated sometime after 1843 (some gold plating remains). They’re hard to price, since so few are sold, but we've found comparable examples sold at auction and are considering offers. We're not American coin collectors, so we want to sell it, but we’d like to get something closer to market value

I enjoy the range of coins of the Greek, Roman, and Byzantine worlds, and of their contemporaries. Lately I've been particularly interested in: (1) developing pedigree as special focus in my family's collection; and, (2) "Barbarians, Captives, and Enemies" on Roman coins, or what I call our "BCE Collection," including FEL TEMP REPARATIO and Fallen Horseman types (my website is new, but I've been building a page for our "BCE" coins here).

My parents got me into collecting ancient coins in the 1980s, mainly buying coins from local shops while traveling. We've been building our collection, and trying to build our understanding of ancient coins and societies, since.

What keeps me interested in classical numismatics is that is not only a hobby (or a business), but a collaborative scholarly and historical enterprise, built upon generations and centuries of research, documentation, and discussion.
