I've found that the 2" long stamp (with approximately a 6mm shaft) works fine secured in the arbor press ram with only masking tape wrapped securely around it; this has only seen occasional use though so not sure how well my tape-adapter will hold up. Not too worried though as I don't plan on using this size of stamp very often in the future.
Some potentially useful hardware I've found recently is the shaft adapters I have pictured in this gallery - I haven't purchased one yet but here's the rundown: the step down adapter has a 1/2" round shaft that would fit in the arbor press. The clamp on the end can secure a 5/8" round stamp or a larger model can secure a 3/4" round stamp. They only cost about $32. I haven't found any commercially-made adapters like this for a shaft of any other shape.
