My husband was black thumbs on any other kind of investments; he played with them with money we could afford to lose, and that is exactly what happened. But not pm's. Those seemed to have worked: Most purchased at very low $'s, long time ago. So, no cd's (well not many), and those I know to keep the limit(s) to the FDIC insured #'s; (and use different banks..) I also stand on LOTS of eclectic collectibles from all over the world; again, many I don't have a clue about what to do with (yet slowly I will tackle those too..) I DID find in his coin collection (odds and ends..) a 3-legged buffalo nickel. Now, you all may have a clue on that one, but not me. Yet I found the receipt for same, oh, purchased I'd say around 98: $298.00. Well, to me, a nickel? You can see how easily for me to unknowingly give it to a coin dealer and have him offer me 50 cents for it, and me to say, "hmmm; o.k." Now that I have seen the receipt, I know that would be foolish! Anyway, pm's, though I don't know as much as many of you do about them, I still have the belief that they can be the security my husband hoped for (for me), and will hopefully do the "right thing" at the right time. Thank you for all of your advice. By the way, Would someone tell me what a CFP is? Nevermind, I will look it up on the net
Sorry, CFP is a Certified Financial Planner. Do not fall for a insurance broker or salesman, look for someone certified and who charges by the hour and doesn't sell anything. They give you unbiased advice. I would post pictures of the coins you are wondering about in the US coins forum here. Many people here can help you understand what grade they are and how much they are worth. Chris

my topic for next one will be: 2011 gold high - $1,500.00. silver high - $24.00 average gold price for next year is $1,375.00 and silver $21.50/oz. many predicted this year high at $1,500.00 and next year high at $2,000.00 for gold.
Sounds good to me. If we BELIEVE IT then IT will happen! But, I for one, will not be adding to my PM at those levels. The downside to the price appreciation in PM is that it reflects a deterioration of the US$ and our economy. :>(
Look where this thread was last year this time, just a few days shy of one year now, PMs are up for sure, but we still haven't touched that $1,350 Elaine aligned with media headlines over and now she's looking for $1,375, even citing $1,500. At this pace it could take three years, never or a bad day in the world to get there.

Very wrong predictions at that... Not much better than my TV Meteorology team to tell the truth. CURRENTLY: GOLD: $1,248.80 Silver: $19.50 Platinum: $1557 Palladium: $526
Weekly job claims drop 6,000 to 472,000. Now watch PM's drop like a rock. LOL.... As if that's really THAT great of a news....I'm hoping PM's won't do anything of the sort.....
There is a jobs report coming tomorrow as well as a long holiday weekend, markets closed Monday, 9/6/10. Another level(ish) day like yesterday would be nice... as would another equities rally! The bell just rang, let's see how markets do today...
