9guns Be cautious about your ebay purchases.Personally,Ebay would be the last place I would go to buy silver.Too many things can go wrong.Silver under spot price to me would be a red flag as there are no reputable dealers I know that sell under spot.I would rather pay a small premium and know I am going to receive my product. Not saying that everyone on ebay is a crook but everytime you buy on ebay there is a slight risk involved.
i am well aware of fraudulent ebay items but i am very comfortable buying my bullion there. all the dealers that im buying from are listing over spot but the many rebates available to the savey ebayer brings the pricing down to right at or under spot.
i just added 100 ASE's off the bay for 18.39 a pop, for .44 over spot it really doesn't make sense to buy bars/rounds.
thanks - like i said in another thread, i've arrived late to the game and need to buy at every opportunity that i have. i'm holding 810 oz. right now at 18.89 an ounce, i just wish i was cognizant of the state of our currency when silver was 12 an ounce and less.
For me, anything under $20/oz. remains a very good price and if holding long term, under $25 is even acceptable. Of course silver can always tank and you could get your chance to buy at still lower per oz. prices, but I don't think it will dip that far anytime soon.
This IMO is not likely to happen but one thing to keep in mind is if silver ever fell back, for example, to the $9-$10 (or lower) the issues will be 1.) Can a person find silver if spot fell that far? and 2.) If a person can find any silver at all, what kind of premium will they end up paying for it when spot is, for example, between $9-$10? As I mentioned I do not think that silver is going to fall that far. Personally, I think that if silver tanked, then it might go back to $16 (may be $15 at the worst IMO) and if silver did that, then a person could still IMO pay a decent premium over spot when spot falls to that level and still be able to find silver locally and online but I could be wrong on this. I think that problem might arise if silver ever fell to under $15 and continued to drop to the low levels that we saw in 2008.
Congrats on your ebay purchase of 100 ASE for an awesome price. As for "being late" in the game, I would say this......."Better late than never". Then again I am just a silver art bar collector and I am not buying silver for the same reasons that you are buying silver.
the bing rebates (8%) end at the end of the month so i only have 3 weeks left, hoping to pick up 2 or 300 more ounces before it ends.
I have no doubts at all that you will be able to pick up more silver before the bing rebates end. The prices that you are able to buy silver at on ebay are much lower than what many local dealers are willing to sell them for. The ASE's that you were able to get on ebay are, by far, the best deal IMO because ASE's are usually have a much higher premium over spot.
Hmmmmm........ I could be wrong on this but I think that you are trying to corner the silver market on ebay. Just leave a little bit of silver for me on ebay to buy. Hahaha. Just kidding 9guns.
i just scored one of my better deals to date - a 100 ounce engelhard bar for $1775 and $32 to get it home minus the mrrebates rebate of $30, the ebaybucks rebate of $35.50 and my credit card rebate for another $17.75 - some quick math shows that i scored it for $1724 to my doorstep. its my 3rd engelhard bar, this one is one of the older poured bars. im now at 1010 ounces and i can just relax a little and watch the action now, unless that is we see a nice dip of a couple bucks.
my scores keep getting better and better. i just snagged another 100 oz in the form of 20 X 5 oz sunshine bars for $17.03 an oz.
That a very excellent score. It is very rare for me to score any 1-oz silver art bars for spot or lower anywhere. I am a lot better at finding good silver art bar deals at my local coin dealers and at coin shows. Am not very good at finding silver art bar deals on ebay. Good luck in "cornering" the ebay silver market. :smile :goofer: :goofer: Just kidding 9guns. :smile
so im pretty much done with big bullion buys since bing is over. bing has done me well though, i accumulated my entire silver position through it. im in AG for a total of 1250 oz right now for $18.44/oz. i strategy now is to just pick up junk stuff here and there.
It sounds to me that you made the most of the Bing discount and congrats on accumulating that much silver using the Bing (and other) discounts. I did not use the Bing discounts because most of the silver art bar BIN prices on ebay were way out of my price range and the Bing discount would not help me at all in that situation. As for looking for junk silver, I would check any local dealers that are in your area to see if they can give you a good deal on junk silver.
SilverArt, I have a sidebar question for you. Does the Sir Winston Churchill 1 oz .999 silver bar by Silver Creations LTD 1972 have any value above melt? That would be the 1000 bar series and not the gold plated shorter series.
