How good are the "tubes" for storing silver?

I am thinking of getting more ASEs, but the question is how to store them. I understand the best way is to put them individually into the airtite cases, but that can be costly, as each airtite case costs extra. Then there is also the "tube" for packing a stash of ASEs together, but I am not sure if that is a good idea. Would like to hear you guys' opinion. Thanks!

I think the tubes would be just fine. If you purchase a lot of them they usually come in tubes anyway.

I've experienced some toning around the rims on bullion coins stored in tubes. But in the long run, it is nearly impossible to avoid this in any reasonable way that I know of.

Some of my best ASE toning comes from the green topped Treasury tubes left closed for 10+ years. Haven't really figured out why. The tubes seem tight fitting. But as I like toned ASEs, I am pleased about it. :)

I generally buy them by the tube. To avoid scratching them up I just leave them in there. I doubt bullion ASE's will ever command huge premiums over spot. I store most of my 90% junk silver in tubes just because it makes it easier to count how many I have.

Instead of fighting against toning all the time, it's sometimes better to just embrace the horror.

wow, sounds like toning ASE is inevitable. so, I wonder if toning ASE can lose value compared to "brilliant" ASE.

Depends on the buyer, some people (like me) hate toned coins, some pay the premium

I keep blowing a little cigar smoke in my tubes on cigar night....that's Saturday for me...

There's a lot of sulfer in cig smoke. Coins exposed to a smoky environment will tone faster.

If it is silver BULLION then I don't think you should worry about toning. Unless you want some TPG'd. I would then cull the '69's and 70's ' fist then tube the rest.. If you really want to preserve them for posterity then vacuumize them in food saver poly hand made bags with tubes and all.
