I am thinking about asking the managers of two grocery stores near me that have counters if I can buy the halves from them. I think they are coinstar. Can the store even get access to the machines or does the counter company have to come out? I'm sure people dumb silver quarters and dimes but the odds are too low. 31.5% of all Kennedy Half Dollars minted for circulation contain silver.
I" pretty sure that the Coin star employees are the only one that can get into the machines. And as 1/3 may be silver but there is no way 1/3 of them will be silver in those machines but it might be worth it to try
I bought two bank rolls Monday and there were 12 40% halves in there. That's good odds. I'm sure you heard about my bank vault bag find a few weeks ago. I just can't get enough!
I would ask. Never shoot yourself down, let someone else do it. I got to date a model for almost 2 years using this tactic.
The stores have no access to the machines... and from the amount of coinstar guys I buy from... I'd say they wouldn't be in a hurry to sell you any of their pickings...
I believe coin star only will allow you to buy full machine. I heard its approximately $15000.00. I asked about it at my grociers a year ago.
Coinstar guys are the only ones to service the machines, along with the Red Boxes, and many of the vended amusements you see while out shopping.
