I would love to see someone stop by a kiosk and give them their gold grills...

If I were the kiosk guy, I wouldn't even handle that thing unless I had gloves....

Consider also that the mall owners / rent proprietors may have solicited the We Buy Gold crew to set up shop in the mall to get people who cash in their gold to turn around and spend on retail... that cash may never leave the mall in the customers hands.

Wow totally true....interesting strategy by those mall owners.....

We have some banks in the mall too...I'm sure they had the same through process....

Looks like we are all going to find out what gold's floor will be.....

I wonder how many 1-2% drop complaint stories we will hear now from those who bought when the prices were higher in the past week? Apmex for one has been running out of stock of some 1oz and some 1/4 oz. gold the last few days. Provident too has run out of some silver ASEs, 2010 AGBs and such. Basically the favored units with the lower over spot premiums sold well on those sites and are now not available until they restock or catch up on orders, find a new floor. These times when stock runs out or gets removed are always interesting to observe how dealers do business.

True, and there was that one post awhile back about a german dealer who was completely sold out too....

I don't want to say it's obvious because no one is psychic here, but you can almost feel that the drop was coming. I admit, it stayed high much longer than I thought, but it wasn't going to sustain itself....(IMO)....

It will also be interesting to see what the activity will be now on the boards, is always harder to be excited when gold is low....

We never did see Yankee come back though!

Yes, I saw that person post in two forums about Austrian Phils being sold out in EU dealer inventory. Yankee on the otherhand cashed out some time back and never got back down to his re-purchase point so we haven't seen him since that time. Maybe buying cruises was more worth his while. LOL! We certainly don't hear from Elaine when the price drops. Little pull backs are the perhaps the best time to me because everyone quiets down, says I told ya so, disappears, of licks their wounds from buying when price was up. I think it gives us buying opportunities and time to assess where we are at.

I see it as buying opportunity. I need to re-evaluate my PM purchases for the 2010 year.......it's why I haven't sold my silver yet because I want more not less!!!

    Regulating the Gold Buying Scams

I wonder how long it will take for the complaints to reach critical mass on the gold-buying scammers? We've seen them in the malls, advertising like there is no tomorrow, signs all over the place "highest prices paid!", "we buy gold!" and other malarkey. The investigative reporters should be all over this unethical business activity. If you think the free market creates a good energy with an economic survival of the fittest, I would just say, well what about your family members, friends and neighbors who have been scammed? Educated consumers with gold? Are you kidding? I had a quality K-16 education without ever studying PMs, except tangentially in Aristotle. My b.s. detector is now on overdrive. I would like to submit pounds and pounds of gold plated junk in the "Cash for Gold" envelope with some bat guano for good measure! I would like to see the expression on the face of the CfG CEO when he hears about the contents of that package.

bat guano might be considered a hazardous material by the USPS and therefore a problem to mail per their usual inquiry when you ship something... but I doubt it would stop these gold-huckster from trying to turn excrement into gold like the alchemists of old!

No what's going on? I had to do some work this morning so I was out of the house, just got back in now...

Also my dumb widget only shows 2 currencies at a time. US and CA. I can do US and Euro but I also like to see how we go against Canada since they are doing better than us right now....

How is Canada doing? Euro is at a 4 year low, 1.22 to USD

So let's see, the delta between currencies are starting to get big again, USD was gaining a tad bit on CA but now it's losing some steam...

    CAD at 1.037
    US at 1.000

Now with the EURO at 1.000 then CAD is at 1.267, LOL!!!!
