Like I said, currently "W" mint mark coins are minted for and marketed to collectors and are sold with a premium retail price, not many W coins are selling for bullion prices. maybe if they are damaged and of low quality they will fetch spot or a little more. And as I said, any coin of precious metal content is fundamentally a bullion coin. If you bought those coins and paid a numismatic premium and sell for a bullion price, currently you are going to loose. If you want to sell a "W" mint mark precious metals coin from the US Mint for a numismatic premium and there is a market for what you have then you have to first find those buyers and amongst them, a buyer who will buy at a price you agree upon, according to what the current collector market is getting for that coin at that moment... or you can make no sale and continue holding the coin.

You have recently been expressing that you wish to sell certain coins, you will learn those numismatic coins are sometimes hard to sell, even if they are getting high values in past sales. You will find many buyers want them as close as possible to spot price just as if you were selling a bullion version coin.

What coin stores in NYC have you visited? There are VERY few of them and you are right about how hard is it to find a dealer willing to buy, buy at a price favorable to you (since they have to buy back of bid) and especially if they don't know you well as a customer. So which shops did you visit?

brigandi, karp jules, mantra and brookyn coin supply. some four smaller coin shops were closed down. i forgot the names. one at flushing, one at midtown near times squares. and one at 34th street near lexington and madison i think.

 

I know a couple of those, others I have no idea. Some I never have gone into. Some dealers in the city are very odd mixtures of businesses, doing a little coin and bullion on the side. Some are dingy old shops, not sure how they stay in business.
