You must have missed my infamous post about an Ebay rip on a silver center 1795 dollar, complete with auction image!
Micheldura - check this http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=388&Lot_No=729&type=prte-pr101205b#Photo on Heritage. That new picture really makes me think this is 1935-D. And even if it is a 1936-D then with the dirt it just seems that this post is probably true. I really think I can see enough of the leg that it would not qualify. Just my humble opinion.
Is that the same obverse? Because that one looks like a 6. The first picture makes it look so flat on top like a 5.
yes, it is the same obverse...I know..one minute...due to the tape residue and dirt probably it looks like a five and then I looked with my loupe and it is for sure a six..put a certain angle or light can change the way it looks. If you look on the right side of coin near bottom, there is a mark like a backwards c that is raised on both shots. You can tell they are the same nickel.
just found this. Only difference is mine is not graded. 1936D 3 1/2 leg buffalo nickel http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=200433309139
1936D 3 1/2 leg I can see the 6 sometimes and other times it looks like a 5. However I lean towards the 6. Because of the 2 scratches on mine I had it graded by ANACS.I think it cost me like $90 to grade it. I think it was worth it. good luck
As I look at yours again, I am pretty sure Isee that the hoof is attached to lower part of leg and in mine you will see it does not touch.
I don't know, hope I'm wrong too, but the 1936-D 3 1/2 leggeds I've seen have a much weaker leg than yours. Let us know if you get it graded.
http://www.buffalonickels.us/36threeLeg.html that is a good shot of my nickel before it was graded. this is a great site for info on buffalo nickels. I hope its ok to post it here. If not, I am sorry
Buffalo Gal...I piggybacked off of statequarterguy ...I hope he doesn't mind I thank you for the information. And yes, I think yours is a weaker leg. Good looking coin. Thanks again
I don't know if there was only one die responsible for this error but to me it appears as though the mint mark is in a different position than the one that got certified. Personally, I would do a little more homework on it before spending money on certification.
