Sorry folks I am still learning about silver investments. I recently started buying silver and bought 20 ASE's from Apmex (2010 brilliant uncirculated). However I have been reading on this forum from some individuals saying "when the government makes 2010 ASE's" or "If the government decided to make 2010 ASE's". These posts are very recent so I guess my question is how did I buy 2010 if they are not made?

Or are they referencing something different? Are the ones I bought the wrong ones?

  5. The 2010 bullion ASEs have been issued (and that is what you purchased from Apmex), but many people are still hoping/wishing/waiting for the ASE proofs and the ASE burnished W mint mark from the US Mint. TC

Talked to one dealer other day is currently selling 2010 ASE's for $22. He claimed he would raise the price to $24 if silver kept up this week.

From an "investement" standpoint, there's ETF's on the stock exchange if you want to play movement in the price of silver. Then you're not stuck holding coins and having to sell them. Just a thought.

You can find bullion 2010 ASEs from various sources. Currently, my main dealer I do business with is selling bullion ASEs, including 2010, for $3 over spot.

The ones you bought are the right ones meaning 2010 ASE's gem bu's. Maybe the posts you were reading were prior to the issuance of 2010 and right after we found out the US mint would not issue Proofs for 2009.

BTW anyone: Is the US mint gonna mint some 2010 Proofs?

DB....don't worry about being "confused" over Silver Eagles.
The Mint hasn't figured them out yet either..............:high5:

Moy said in recent Coin World that the 2010 PROOF ASEs were doubtful...:headbang:

Someone posted a link on another thread here somewhere that had the order page for 2010 ASE Proofs, I think the price was something like $34.95. I've been trying to find the thread and can't. I was within the last week it was started.

They are talking about the proofs.....the 2009 proof ASEs were not made, and the specuation is that the 2010 ASE proofs may not be made either.

    You bought uncirculated ASEs.

    :)

You can put them on subscription for $31.95, but, unless I've missed it, they haven't minted any and may not do so due to public demand for the bullion version......just like in 2009.

The reason they didn't mint proofs in 2009 was due to a lack of planchets needed for the proofs. The ones they had were diverted to the other programs.

Yes, which was created by the high public demand for the bullion version.

Its ruff that out of the millions of blanks they have that they won't take a 100K or 50K and make the proofs with them. Maybe if we all subscribe for rediculus quanites each they will make them. :) I'll order 500 if yall will :)

By law they have to fill the demand for bullion first. ;)

If you've even slightly been following the many articles, blogs, forums and minimal comments given by US Mint Director Moy, about the Proof 2010 ASE then you should be doubtful of its release again this year.

You'd do better to write your Senators and local Representatives to carry the message of your dissatisfaction to the appropriate offices in Washington.

Certainly only put in a subscription for what you can afford. Also note that such a large order of say 500 units will likely far exceed household limits and your subscription-order will be canceled should that order exceed any potential set limits such as 1, 3, 4, 100 units per household...

I advise you to place several subscription orders for the same coin to circumvent any delay in the unlikely event the coins are issued but with a limit so that you can be sure to get at least one or a few. Still, remain doubtful instead of confused in strategy. Like the earlier poster said, the Mint has to abide by law to fulfill bullion demand and so far the UNC mintage is up year to date over 2009, hence demand is up.

Some of us are serious about seeing the Proof ASEs issued in the future, for instance, the serious suggestion to write one's elected officials in regards to this. Dumb or not, the law on bullion is the current policy so write to your elected officals about that topic as well.

Suggesting that people order such vast quantities to imply interest and expense of the Mint to ramp up production is rather serious and if you're not interested then why waste time in jest? It's a blow against efforts to see the ASE Proof collectors version coin continued to be issued.

    Relax Brother,

Should the law be changed yes, What I was saying is dumb is the law and that they will sell millions of 2010 Busniess ASE, but wont sell the proofs to people like us that want them.

I really will right Spencer Bacus my US Rep

Sory if I made you upset. I agree with you.
