Profits or losses are only realized at the
time of disbursement, that’s why I like
a physical presence like GOLD :)

You own real ownership in real assets generating real cash flows paying real dividends and over time giving you real capital appreciation.

Crypto is lots of people with Big $$$ buying something that has no intrinisic value except what the biggest backers say it has.

Holy cow, 'someone' is making oodles of money today! BTC is down to $15,861. And we know he makes piles of cash when it goes down! And up! And no change!

Assets sometimes dont generate anything and actually lose value, its a two way street...

    In the aggregate, they do.

    Since 1926, 10% a year compounded.

The best day of your life is when you buy a boat, the second best day is when you sale it :)

I was lucky I never plunged into the stock market per say like most of you all. I started taking some money out of my biweekly check into a 401 K with 4% match from employer up to a certain point. Then after a few years I could see growth, then every time we got a raise or COLA, I would put it in 401k then for some dumb reason I started maxing it out yearly, I started that in 2008 and retired 2015. Kinda wishes after reading the success on here I would have tried a single stock purchased but with my knowledge I did not. The Carrier didn't offer 401k until early 1990's the first year I did not get in it.

I have got two boats like diving it through the foam. Living in the Dessert that's what you would expect from a sand pounder. I'll will pull you on a tube you would change your mind... BOAT = Bust out another Thousand

Getting into the stock market is not about "taking a plunge."

That's speculation. This is about prudent investing and making a wise asset allocation decision based on your own personal financial situation and risk tolerance level.

There's a huge difference in how someone should position their IRA or 401(k) at age 42 vs. 62. Big difference in if you make $75,000 a year or $250,000 a year. Big difference if you are married with 4 kids or single. Big difference is if you expect an inheritance from mom and dad or if it's just a bunch of Hummels and commemorative plates. :D

I have nothing against boats, have had
several over the years, so not knocking
them, and there allot of fun use to have
a 30 foot pickle fork and use to go out
to Lake Havasu could do 90 MPH on the
water and that’s scary fast ! I was just
Referring to the deprecation value is all
    In my previous post.

Final results still aren’t in, in my neck
of the woods, hoping for a sweep
if they paid these people, I think
things would get done allot faster lol :)

Stocks way up today, but once everything is done, then we can take
    another look.

And after that, and so on.

If I had to guess, stocks will fall back some tomorrow as people take profits. In the medium term, I expect we'll see some lower lows in the next few months. In the longer term... well, in the long enough term, stocks in aggregate ALWAYS go up, as @GoldFinger1969 says. No promises on any individual stock, though.

I've had four boats, been fortunate to have made money on each one of them less expenses for use.
Like the foam you have to buy them right and you have to wrench on them yourself.

I just can't get over the prejudice that tells me it's better to be underwater in stocks than to be underwater in a boat.

More importantly, stocks go up in the overwhelming majority of 10-year and 20-year time horizions. I believe they go up in EVERY 30-year time horizon....all figures based on rolling time periods to eliminate period bias.

When it comes to boats trying to maintain them is key, and like you
said if your wrench gifted it’s definitely
a plus, my dad bought a boat 20 footer
and got it used, ran great for the first
few months then the drive gear was
wearing excessively, you had to keep
adjusting the wheel kind of a night mare
    $5,000 to change everything out.
