Okay, what's going on with silver this morning?

Up almost 5% so far, knocking on the door of $20 again. Kitco says "weaker dollar", but gold's up only a bit more than half a percent.

I can't take the blame this time, I did not sell any silver over the weekend...

Sold a menial amount of silver I had laying around. Still have a bunch I could cash in on when the time is right, but I'd love to always have some stashed away that I could sell in a time of crisis.

I've picked up a few gold coins this year, so hoping I won't have to wait too long before making some money on them.

Markets have been crazy for months now....stocks down...medals should be up ..but they haven't...
Who can guess what going to happen next ? We all just sit here awaiting the next explosion.
It's like we live in bizarro world...up is down...down is up... things we cannot control that be they a pandemic, war in the Ukraine, the issues that will blow up this winter with oil prices as Europe supply from Russia is cut off...or on embargo... so many factors that will determine world markets will tolerate or reject....it's the physics of economics for every action theres a reaction... like a tidal wave is it going to hit or miss...who knows???? The only thing anyone can do is keep your eyes wide open as to world events...plan ahead for the worst...and hope for the best...

I was hunting Garage Sales several years ago and stopped at an older couples sale. We got to talking and the old boy produced 2-50 ounce Engelhard silver bricks & he had paid 50$ per ounce!
    Ouch,

So many read ,see, or hear...oh medals are so hot.....well they maybe....and they maybe peaked and now on the down hill part of the roller coaster.
The same for coins newbies buying and not exactly know enough to stay afloat...unfortunately I personally witnessed this sort of thing more times than I cared to.... When one been collecting as long as I have.... unfortunately you witnessed horror stories....as such it hurts you. As you are so attached to the hobby...it effects you...as you want the same pleasure for others as you have recieved over the years in the hobby. However that said you cant fix stupid or feel responsible for.

    Hi Jeff, et al:
At that time I didn't have much disposable income and was hunting Garage Sales for items to flip. I just marveled at the old boy who had $50K to invest and commiserated with him when told he was going to hold on and probably gift both to his grandson.
    Lucky bugger!

His grandson will happily off load them for $24 an ounce and he will be rolling in his grave.

Some Engelhard silver bars do demand a premium because of waffle back or serial numbers but not to the extent 50,000 or 50 an ounce. I have overpaid and probably still do but not to the point of totally STOOP ED. You got to have people like that in the world though. If everybody was the same, it would be boring...

Not sure about the rolling part, though. All the stuff I have because "I might need it someday" -- when I'm gone, I won't need it any more. Need to make sure my kids understand that, too.

I' VE told mine throw in a couple of silver dollars I might have to buy my way in those Pearly gates. If not I will be in Hell with all the topless women, then..

Big swing downward and then back up this morning. I don't have time to go looking for causes, though...

Edit: ah, inflation numbers, which also apparently knocked stocks back 2% or so, and knocked 5% off BTC in the course of 15 minutes. "The dollar is buying less every day! Quick, sell everything!" o_O

10 year T's are yielding 3.412%. That's raising the opportunity cost of holding metals.
