I found this list of "rare" pennies from a video produced by Couch Collectibles This is a 1988 D wide am penny I found. Do I have a valuable penny?
No. The ‘88s all had wide AMs. And, from your photo, you also do not have the Reverse of ‘89 either. Just a normal circulated cent…Spark
What you posted says 98 not 88. The reverse was changed to close AM in '93 for circulation coins. In "98, '99, and 2000 a worn proof reverse die was used on some circulation strikes. The proof dies used had wide AMs.
Not a worn proof die, a die hubbed with the proof rev hub that was never shipped to San Francisco or polished. It was never used to strike proofs. If it had they would still be very prooflike and the proof dies are retired after just 3,000 to 5,000 strikes. All the proof dies were hubbed at Philadelphia and then shipped out. But a proof hubbed die didn't get shipped and a business strike die did. So we got the 98 S CAM and the 98 WAM.
@Hommer I apologize I did post the wrong picture of dates. Here is the picture I meant to post. Sorry for the confusion everyone.
you should add to your research, researching the presenter. Don't assume each and every person giving information is a top expert. Even then , over time they may learn so you also have to consider when the YT was posted. If you search "Couch Collectibles" just here on CT you'll see the opinions of that YT channel. but you'll want to cross-research information to validate it from a more reputable source. Such as this 1992 D Close AM Transitional Variety (lincolncentresource.com) example:
