Sure gave me and others a good laugh. I think you may have made the Hall of Fame for that mistake. Lol

I didn't start collection coins in 2008. My father had a bunch of ASE's and Morgans which I had to share with my brother. I think he cherry picked the Morgans and ASEs. He lives in a suburb of Los Angeles, and I live in North Carolina and it would cost more for the plane trip than the coins are worth. I've called him and told him I would like to buy his coins that he got from our father. He did tell me that the coins are still in the jar that my father had his coins in. I offered him $1,000, but he wouldn't even counter offer.

    Me too.

I can still get foreign silver coinage for small or no premiums.

Right now, I'd rather take the chance of a 'low' buy price/percentage when I sell than give a huge premium at my purchase, which, in my opinion, are lost dollars.

I’ve been doing a survey of American Gold Eagles. The best I’ve seen is $1850 to $1860 and you have to hunt to find those. Gold is just below $1720 today. No thank you especially with more interest rate hikes guaranteed.

But on a percentage basis, the premiums you guys are reporting on silver eagles makes it look like they’re giving gold away. Really, what’s the deal? Are people that mathematically challenged?

Just doing a quick check of APMEX agrees with you. ~11% premium (Gold) versus ~72% premium (Silver).

Time to sell all your ASEs and buy AGEs?

Thought I got a good deal on a nice 2022 for $32! (definitely not a 'steal')
Glad I just have 1 Dansco #7181 book to keep filled & that's after I purchased a 5th blank page!

Here's an example of what I was talking about when I mentioned foreign bullion coins.
Right now on ebay I could get a lot of 5 St. Helena Queen's Virtue coins for $123.83 or a lot of 5 Austrian Philharmonics for 124.27.
Meanwhile lots of 5 Silver Eagles are $167.60 and up!
A difference of over $40 for 5 ounces of .999 Silver bullion coins!

Yep...but I guess ASEs have better recognizability? ;)

Yeah. There are probably more people who actually collect ASE's as well. I'm sure the demand is a little higher. But regardless of the reasons, I'm not paying the premiums! Over $24 an ounce is bad enough percentage-wise when spot is under $19.
Over $30 is just insane to me.

There has never been a bigger ripoff percentage-wise foisted on the American public that can match the Mint ASE program.

Political tinkering aside... I appreciate keeping me on the straight and narrow when I utter thoughts outside the norm.
