Do you have to sell your mother's house?

Depending on the dynamics of the house's market and your proximity to the house (and if I were you) take a mortgage on the house (50%-70% equity removal) and use the mortgage money for other investing (I'd buy other real estate) and then rent your mother's house and maybe the other real estate too to create 'passive' income.

Or use the money from you mother's house sale to pay off or significantly down your house (presuming you still have a mortgage) and then start banking the former payments on your house.

More bad news for us at home !! just found out that the U.S is now banning
Russian oil, so more pain at the pump

It would be nice to get some good news
    for a change.

again, I am out until things change
in Ukraine, so that’s the plan.

So, one day of green doesn’t even come
close to the sea of red we been having
over the past few weeks, and though
I am an optimist I don’t see any steady
and reliable improvement in the market
for some time, another sanction only
brings more pain at home :(

The US imports less than 8% of its oil from Russia (7.9), Mexico supplies 8.4%, Canada over 50%, none of the remaining supplies are Russian controlled countries. Likely the prices will increase but such increases will also be part the US side of companies pricing is usually much higher due to the companies levering price protection into the future. I am thankful that we at least have the benefits of solar and Geothermal to reduce the over all effect. We need to reduce the dependency of oil as a primary energy source or learn to stop complaining. IMO, Jim

I believe those are percentages of OIL IMPORTS not total oil demand. For the U.S., Russian oil is about 3% of our oil demand.
Oil prices are set globally. Our gasoline prices are among the lowest in the world outside of nutty-subsidized prices in Brazil, Venezuela, and the MidEast.
Oil and natgas will be with us for DECADES....we grow efficiency at about 2-3% per annum....any attempts to mandate or overregulate that amount risks turning us into Europe vulnerable to price shocks or outages.

The raw minerals needed for "green, clean" energy are more fossil-fuel intensive than the use of fossil-fuels themselves.

Looking forward to the development of Warp Drive.....:D

The bottom line is oil price is going to
increase how ever you do the math
and oil companies are taking advantage
of the situation and artificially raising
the price, kinda saying we’re raising
the price because one of are refinery’s
    is down for maintain…LOL

The oil companies are not "artificially raising the price" -- it's set in the futures market on exchanges, not the Exxon or Chevron boardrooms.

When a refinery is closed for maintenance, the price of gasoline does rise. And most oil companies do NOT own refineries.

As opposed to turning us into Texas? ;)
Some minerals are hard to get at. Some, which haven't previously been produced at the scale we need now, don't have production optimized as well as it has been for oil and gas. Like everything else, as demand increases, we'll improve our means of production and/or find cost-effective alternatives. But no, it won't be painless.

The price has to be delegated to others
most of the time it’s the consumers
that ultimately pay the price, just
looked at the price at my local station
just went up another 10 cents, while
    I typed this message…LOL

It's easy for Americans to profit from rising oil or gas prices...just buy an ETF or stock tied to the price. :D :cigar:

And last I heard you've still got the issue of showering the far endpoint with a galaxy's worth of hard radiation.

That, and any working FTL scheme is also by definition a time machine that lets you travel into the past. And if you've got one of those that works, everything goes to chaos, until one time traveler makes the change that ensures time travel never gets invented. Which seems to be where we are now.
