I have always been interested in seeing if anyone has anything from North Korea as I am unsure whether or not it is even possible to obtain currency from here. Considering how secluded the country is, I would think it would be very difficult to obtain a coin or bill from North Korea. But, there's always the chance someone has, which is why I am asking... Has anyone here gotten any kind of currency from North Korea? I have heard there 'may' be a few ways, but it would still be a difficult task. What say you?

People have posted them before. You can even find them on eBay (although sellers don't put North Korea in the title since eBay does not allow them to be sold here in the US). Many originate from sellers in China (close proximity and no real restrictions there, so it makes sense that they can more easily acquire these).

I have "been" to North Korea twice, crossing the DMZ at Panmunjeom in the JSA.

I bought several sets of North Korean currency and coins from the gift shop on Camp Bonifas.

    Here is the currency:

I bought some stamps too but those aren't as cool. I don't have any pictures.
I also have a lot of North Korean propaganda flyers that they float over the border in balloons that drift all over the country. I collected probably 20-30 different ones in my time there.

Just be careful tearing them down from the walls to take home... (dark humor and not that funny)

I can dig the stamps out and snap a couple pictures.
A lot of the flyers were pretty violent. Calling for beheadings of US/JA/SK leaders and stuff. I may have a couple that aren't so bad...Gotta dig them out though.

Luckily these all came floating into the streets of Seoul. No tearing down or trips to forced labor camps required.

    That is an interesting note!
The writing is done right to left vs left to right.
