I'd unload everything if silver went over $40 or gold over $2500.

I feel like if silver hit $40/oz in the near future I could easily part with many of the larger world silver coins in my collection for melt value, including my 10-coin roll of Panamanian 20 Balboas (over 38 oz of sterling silver.)

It is cool though, and the only one I've ever seen (I'm sure there are plenty more) - so for now it gets hidden away.

I mean, I'm basically even at ~$20/oz. So now I'm in + territory. I'd happily dump my junk at $40. Would still keep my gov rounds because I collect those vs holding for metal value.

My average cost is way under $20. None of it is special to me except the few pieces my grandfather gave me. One of them is a 1986 ASE.

I started collecting in 2013ish so yeah...prices were high...but I did well when it was much lower.

I would get rid of half my silver at $200 if money had the same spending power as today.

..and probably half my gold at around $5000

Just as when buying PM, or any other investment for that matter, it would depend on my current need for cash and my outlook for future economic developments. If the dollar were in free fall, I wouldn't sell at any given price, even $5000/ounce of silver, until I needed the money (think Zimbabwe). If I thought the price of gold or silver were way out of line and higher than future prices were likely to be, I would sell today. The problem, of course, is that I don't have special insight more than others, and a lot less than professionals and insiders, so I'm left to hold on until I need the cash, whatever the price might be then. I see gold and silver more as a store of value for emergencies than a get-rich-over-time investment, so I don't have a very large percent of my investments in PM.

I've got a number of silver bars and rounds that could be bought for $45 (maybe a 3rd to half the stack) some cool vintage stuff in that stack.
The other 3rd has the extra cool factor and vintage stuff so $55/$65 range...

The last 3rd IF sold would be closer to $80/$100 range and is the stuff you look at once in awhile and think to yourself (yup I've got one of those):D

Not like I'd make any money on them
    (for the record)
just a caretaker for the time being.

I read a post earlier today where they did the math of whether it was cheaper to wipe your butt with Charmin TP or Rubles. So far, Charmin has the edge. But not by much. If I remember correctly, the ruble needs to be about 0.0036. Perhaps by next week.

In today's world I'm glad we have a well and hand pump out back. Water and a source for food could be worth more than any amount of PM, know what I mean! Everything we own goes to our heirs if they are around to enjoy it, God willing. Be safe.

Regardless of the spot price when I need the money I'll sell but not until then.
