It took awhile but I finally got the 2020 and the 2021 P and D coins I needed. I have 3 Kennedy Half folders for them. A few years ago the Mint, in its infinite wisdom, decided to stop minting the Kennedy Half Dollar for circulation but continued to mint them in circulation grade. You could only get them if you bought from the mint.

Then they changed things again making it harder to get Kennedy Halves. Well all 3 of my folders are filled (I don’t like empty holes) so I’m now done with the Kennedy’s. I can move on to other coins that the mint does not produce.

It was more difficult to finish this set than to build a set of Franklins or Liberty Halves. Well here they are, all uncirculated grades. They are all shiny but don’t show it in the photos.

Nice set. I had a lot of difficulties with the US Mint changing the way we could get coins. I was really in to the Kennedy halves until the mint decided to make them more difficult.

Congratulations! I completed my JFK set 2 years ago, and added the recent issues. Your set is really nice looking. Now, onto the specialty Kennedys, such as the errors, DDOs, and proofs.

    Nice job @Collecting Nut.

Wait! Where is the 1970 D? Just kidding as even the folder maker obviously doesn't think it will be filled. I've never seen that in an album before.

The only variety I have is the heavily accented hair and it can stay that way.

The 1970-D is included in all the mint sets I have, about 10 of them. :)

What did they change that makes it harder?

I think I've seen a Liberty Nickel folder that had a plug for the 1913 coin. I'm pretty sure I've also seen them for other "rare dates". I'll have to haul out my old folders and check.

Since 2002 Kennedy half dollars have been made available to the public only through direct purchase from Mint and Mint sets and rolls of 20 coins or bags of 200 coins the rolls. The rolled and bagged coins are not available through banks for general distribution and are sold by the Mint for approximately one and a half to two times their face value. This makes them harder to get them.

Not really, they make them whenever they get orders for them from the Fed which theyve been getting orders for several years now.
