A little off topic, but I noticed at the Newsmintblog site you mentioned, Obama has plans to change the composition of some coins. I wonder what collectors will think of that? Maybe another topic if anyone wants?
I see there already is one going, ooops

we got the american buffalo and american eagle gold series. why not issue the american indian head yearly different design gold coin series?. with different headband on it. a .99999 fineness and a larger diameter at 36mm or 38mm. both proof and uncirculated version but with a (s) mint mark. denomination start with $100.00 (one ounce), $50.00 (half ounce), $25.00 (quarter ounce) and $10.00 (1/10 ounce). come with a very attractive box, like the american buffalo one or better. and a nice design certificate of authentication. it should have a capsule on it. a silver $10.00 (one ounce) and $5.00 (1/2 ounce), proof and unc version are also welcome. the diameter at 46mm and 38mm respectively. well. that's my dream.

I think these are not future heirloom quality coins. Basically Medals really! Just my thought. The area for future prospects I feel is:
Peace Dollars: There are just 24 dates to this highly collectible issue. Nice coins can be somewhat of a challenge to locate, but the beauty of this great Art Deco design and there reasonable levels make this a worthwhile endeavor.
Classic Silver Commemoratives: This area of the market has actually fallen substantially over the past 5 years. The 50 unique designs (144 issues if you collect each date within those designs), each with an individual history behind production, form a unique niche in numismatics. Easily obtained fully brilliant or with gorgeous toning, depending on your preference. At the current valuations, what’s not to love?

An astute observation yet this thread is part of the 'Bullion Investing' forum and attempts to cover two things AGB Proof and AGB Unc issues, one coin which is mainly collector oriented (like your Peace and Commem examples) and the other which is both collected and investment oriented. The AGB coins are VERY new to the market and it remains to be seen just how AGB coins will be treated by individuals, as sentimental heirloom collectibles passed down in families, as elements in an investment portfolio divvied up to beneficiaries or some other perspective / split of the two most commonly thought of examples. As far as I know, (bullion/unc) AGBs are not specifically mentioned as IRA qualified bullion, are they?

Perhaps. Some are certainly more ostentatious than others. Imelda & Ferdinnand were far from shy.

One of the admirable things about the US Mint's products is the inclusion in the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985 that all gold used in minting the coins would be from newly mined domestic sources.

Wow..., Does the Chiefbullsit like proofs, or UC's better? Any other takers on the topic? Which makes for a better investment? (Your very personal opinion of course).

I read of a bill in Congress last year that would impact domestic mining. (Some sort of environmental push). I think the bill is sort of dead now. Sorry I do not recall the name and number of it.

Thank you for the close up of this coin Crispy. I can finally see it close up. I sure do appreciate you posting it here. I wish I owned it. Pretty cool. Too bad the coin does not include an image of a shoe.:mouth:

I recall well her passion for pumps.

However, collectors will collect a series of coins as long as there is a set to complete or a new issue forthcoming. Shoes may be longer running than any coin series that a collector can never get every variety. She had quite a personality. ;)
