let's see all my gold... coins.. all coins.. lib and indian head $2.5s a 2007 20 euro "irish culture" (beautiful beautiful coin) 1 gold Fanam and 1/10th Fanam... yup yup all coins lol (get away from the 20 lb jewelry box that doesn't count lol) (and 90% silver anyway lol)
Started numismatic and graded gold, but realized quickly if it was placed upon my family to sell 100 individually priced numismatic gold coins it would be too much work and overly confusing. BU bullion will make it easy to check prices and sell a few or dump it all if needed even for the inexperienced. Ive seen too many people dumping collections at shops with hundreds of hours of notes, labels, printouts, binders, cases for $100.
Bullion VS Numismatic is a no brainer especially if your leaving to family as there is no guess work, its worth what its worth period.
My thoughts are that bullion is best for insurance against inflation, and coins are not always but mostly for collecting pleasure.
50%-50% approximately. I do like the pre-1933 US numismatic gold but have not added to the pile in the past few years. If the gold price was to drop below a thousand dollars that would most certainly change. One never knows
Mine is half and half.I love both styles and think they are works of art for different time periods.Ive found it harder to buy either one though with the prices and premiums being much higher.
I started stacking silver bullion coins around 2010, then started to add gold bullion in 2012. After a while I got into buying pre-1933 gold, especially common date slabbed $20.00 in MS-64. That's when gold was trading around $1,250. - $1,300. I realized I had a collection of about 20 common dates, and decided to go after less common dates. Now I've branched out into branch gold, and gold type sets. So, my gold garden is blooming!
I started out with graded pre-1933 gold coins, then I started collecting from the Mint. I don't buy expensive coins from ebay. I have bought a few cold coins from Mount Vernon. The gold coins that I bought are still in the Mints boxes. I seldom open them up for me to look at, and I never, ever show any of my coins to friends, members of my church, I never show them to my family. Thank goodness, I live in North Carolina and my parents and brother live in California. I do have a son in Atlanta area, but he has more money than I had never even thought about. I tried to get him to start collecting coins for various reasons. No Answer. He spent about $14,000 getting all his children in Georgia. If my father was still alive and I told him that I was going to spend that kind of money to entertain my children, I think he would beat me over the head to knock some sense into me.
Agreed, then what? If someone (Fretboard) wants to sell a 100 Corona or 100 Korona for $1,700 sent it my way.
A Buffalo this time around, I have found that a healthy BTC account works wonders for the growth of Gold
I love your Buffalo. I can't tell by the picture. Is it Proof or Uncirculated? I think it is up to the collector what they want with gold coins. I have bought Proof and Uncirculated from the Mint. My Buffalo is a 2016 Proof. I've only looked at it a couple of times, which is not smart if you are collecting to enjoy your coins. You can't enjoy them if they are stuff into a safe or a SDB. I think I'll go look at them and make sure they are still there. Thanks for show your coins, folks. Best of luck and a Happy New Year to all.
Straight from the mint, here are some original packaging photos, cut it out and put in an airtight with all my other gold coins dont really do proof or graded coins because of the premiums, stick with just raw coins 99%of the time my only graded coin below and the only reason I bought it was because there were no B/U examples when I was looking.
