A friend of mine suggested that I purchase an ounce of of gold bullion and $500 in silver every month till I'm 65 or eleven years from now with my long term disability payments reguardless the price. They assured me in the long run I have to make out! What do You think! I must say You Folks are truly special compared to other forums I've submitted. God Bless!
There is a lot of talk about commodities, rare earth in particular, that will run out over time. I've seen a chart of when they think these commodities will run out. I'm not so sure I buy into that 100%. For one thing, there are plenty of places on Earth where nobody has explored, or nobody wants to explore. For instance, how many companies are exploring in the Congo? How many companies want or can explore in Venezuela? These are just examples. I'm sure there might be even more remote places that companies just don't want to go or be. So, what rare earths exist in these countries is anybodies guess. As for rare Earths, there are a lot of emerging economies in the world. You don't get a urban civilization without the use of energy. At present, it is commodities that provide that energy, in the form of coal, or natural gas, and metals such as copper to deliver it. Could this change in the future? You bet it can. I'm not sure how long you have to 65, but I think rare earths in general will be a good investment, at least for the next 10 years.
I'm lucky. I have ten years and eleven months and thats not including ssi. I paid a hell of a cost. Was it worth it? I would rather have my mobility, memory and able to drive a car and especially try a case in a Court of Law again. I do thank the Lord for what I do have and a Loveing Loyal Wife that I would never trade anything for! And new friends the good Lord directs my way.
I am new here also, and this does seem to be a nice place in that people are helpful and honest. But I don't think most of us are trained financial advisors. We just like gold and silver. Personally, I don't count on gold or silver as a sure thing. It would be wiser perhaps to learn something about the history of these investments. Forgive me if I am presuming that you are new to this, but if you look at a 10 year chart, a 20 year chart, you will see that gold and silver go up and they go down, sometimes quite drastically. If you have suffered and recovered, IMHO you need to be careful with your money. Cash is not such a bad place to be, while you are considering your options and learning more about metals.
I did follow the advice of one of our member. We are entering in a lease option and will own our home in 10 years when my disability is up at 65. Ill also have some metals stached for a humid day!! Ya and Thank to all!
