dealers are buying AGE and AGB bullion one ounce unc gold coin at the same price. that is $20.00 over bid gold spot. but when they sell it to you. it will be different. AGE is $59.95 over ask (gold spot). and AGB is 109.95 over ask (gold spot). in short. buffalo is expensive.

  4. I realize that the mintage is pretty high for the 2009 fractional gold coins, but 2009 was a very odd year at the Mint for gold (and silver) with no burnished or proof fractional AGEs. Some may want these coins for reasons other than their bullion value in the future. TC

i think the mint might not selling the ASE proof and AGE proof for another one or two years. the mint will still selling the following:
2010 platinum 1 oz proof, 2010 buffalo 1 oz proof, 2010 bullion 1 oz silver eagle , 2010 bullion 1 oz gold eagle and 2010 bullion fractional gold eagle. the dealers like the mint selling the bullion gold and silver only. because the dealers will make huge money from it. the dealers can not make money on the collector's items. because the mint sell directly to collectors.

the 2010w bullion fractional american eagle gold will certainly continue to produce. but might be offer again at a very late schedule. maybe just like that of last year. the mintage will be high again.

Can you please provide a link to the US Mint's announcement that the fractional bullion gold coins will be produced in 2010? or is this speculation?

Do you really think the price is going to go much lower? If so, do you think it will stay there awhile. (I don't).

Hence, I would pickup fractional AGE if I had a chance.

    Hello!

Just picked up new (BU) 2009 1/2 oz US Gold Eagle through reputable online dealer. (My second gold coin.)
Very happy, however noticed slight fading or discoloration on the reverse. Is this normal for these coins? The obverse is practically flawless. But when I turned the coin over it was obvious that the reverse was not as
"Brilliant" as the obverse. Is this from chemical or acid test? It doesn't appear to be scratched.... all input appreciated.

    1/2 oz gold eagle pics

here are some pics. i could not find the word to describe the "haze"
that i had seen on top of the eagle and slightly above "In God We Trust"
but i believe a more accurate description would be "soapy". these pics
were taken with no flash, in natural but not direct lighting on a dark
background. the obverse seems ok to me so i included that as a reference. thanks again for your input.

None of my AGE look like the pictures. They look like silver coins in your pictures.

    1/2 oz AGE

yeah, i hear ya. I have many silver eagles that are in better shape and
ordered the same way (BU) same year too. I also have canadian maples
that look a lot better. the coin's dimensions and weight are correct. when i took pictures at night the "gold" coloring seems to be more natural. i also
noticed when looking at slabbed gold coins online (pcgs and ngc) the coins tend to look a little different in color yet they have the same purity, date and grading. being relatively new to this i need some advice because my desire to invest in gold is still strong. any advice appreciated.

    1 oz. ($50 denomination) 1,493,000
    1/2 oz. ($25 denomination) 110,000
    1/4 oz. ($10 denomination) 110,000
    1/10 oz. ($5 denomination) 270,000

Do you think any of the 2009 fractionals will sell at a premium?

I think the 1/2 oz. and 1/4 oz. could carry a certain premium with those mintages, but most likely only those in upper grades in top tier TPG holders and selling to collectors would do this since there weren't any proofs nor burnished W AGE coins for 2009. Collectors may seek to fill a whole in their collections for 2009.
