true, the big boys have all the power...they can do whatever they want with stock prices.....I can only go along for the ride.....hopefully up.....:goof:
The market doesn't reward you for being big. The market rewards you for being right. If you read a couple of books on "value investing," this point becomes clear.
On eBay I see someone selling a Key Date 2008 W $10 Quarter Ounce Unc Gold coin, and in the description it says 9,200 minted, but then I see others stating the mintage is 8,883. Which one is correct, and where can the number minted be validated? eBay Item numbers: 170437041506 – says 9,200 160398491515 – says 8,883 130361438209 – says 8,883 There is also a 2008 $25 W One Half Ounce Gold Eagle that states it is the lowest mintage of all fractionals. 390146544797 – Says lowest of all W fractionals Who is right and who is wrong?
Chuck, maybe elaine can answer she's been putting up new numbers last night/today, probably she'd checked those listing in the process too.
Thanks Krispy! Maybe she can help me out. I tried to search it to find out, but can't find where to find out the latest figures to nail it down. Some are older postings. By the way, is she ever coming back to the US? Is she far enough away from that volcano down there? I thought about her the last time I saw something about it on the news.
I see her posting quite regularly in 2 or 3 of her threads, but not all of them. Seems to be safe from the eruptions too.
Try "The Intelligent Investor" by Benjamin Graham. It's easy to read and timeless, even though it was published in early 1972. All of the principles of sound investing are in this book.
to SirCharlie: there were two things to be consider: first - single piece with its original box and c.o.a. those sets of 4 pc. were not included. second - include all those sets. now. first question. 2008w AGE unc 1/4 oz is the lowest of all AGE and AGB unc or proof. total mintage at 8,883. this figure include the sets. second question. 2008w AGE unc 1/2 oz is the second lowest of all fractional (w) unc with a total of 5,209. the lowest is the 2007w AGE unc 1/2 oz with a mintage of 5,180. this one is based on single coin. additional. 2008w AGE unc four pieces set is the lowest of all gold sets. total mintage is only 2,851 set. now. as for your second question. if we include AGB. then the lowest for this category is the 2008w AGB 1/4 oz proof. with only 1,331 pc made. second is the 2008w AGB 1/2 oz proof. with only 2,184 pc made. this is based on single coin. i hope you will not be confuse.
Thank you very much Elaine. It seems that there are many people confused about how the numbers come together, and I was curious myself. That explains it!
