FWIW, I have had nothing but good experiences with Roma, though I've never listed anything with them. I always pay right when I receive my invoice and they usually ship the next day. I receive them in just a few days, including US Customs.

The coins have been as expected. This is one of my favorites from them.

    Ex Roma.

It's a bit funny IMHO to judge the credibility of a company that deals in ancient coins based on their mistakes in cloud computing.

Not that one. A couple of JC denarii and a few other decent gold coins which should not have been in an E-Sale. I see their E-Sales as a place where one hopes to grab a bargain. The only redeeming factor was that I bought some modern pieces from them and managed to turn them around for a decent return.

I'm not saying I haven't paid more at other places or lost on some coins, everyone has, its the attitude I don't care for. Richard Beale is a thoroughly decent chap but the rest of the people there.....naaaah!!!

Won't be doing much business with them unless they've got something I really want and its not available anywhere else. A reputable auction house should, in my opinion, point out issues with a coin, even if it affects the price, especially if they are the ones examining it in hand. Omission is almost the same as dishonesty.

No one's judging them on the performance of their computing skills. The thread just got a bit diverted, that's all;)

got it, what about Your Lysimachus Tetradrachms, are you selling? i did see your Aureii before and with naked eye you could see dents and scuffs, so sometimes it is on the buyer to do a thoughtful and thorough inspection of the coins…what else are you selling? I Also think to be featured in the Print auction, you need to have quality stuff, maybe those that your submitted were not on par?

Perhaps the items I'm selling are better discussed in a private conversation and not posted on the chat forum.

Several of my coins were much MUCH better quality and higher value than a lot of the 5-600 pounds denarii they listed in their catalogues. I have bought more than one aureus from them. One had some issues quite apart from the obvious metal quality which were not stated in the listing. I even wrote to them about that.

If you read my earlier posts, I was interested in a solidus which they said was not tampered with but the weight and edge indicated it had been clipped. Almost everyone on this site agreed it had been clipped.....sad. I decided to pass on that one.

Anyway enough about my experience with Roma, however, I certainly cannot and will not recommend them to anyone.

TWICE Roma claimed I didn't pay for coins when I had receipts from PayPal and my bank that proved I did. They didn't bother to check their records before sending me e-mails telling me owed them payment, either.

They occasionally have coins I'm interested in, but keep SLOPPY records.
