i need help on convincing my gf that a 10oz bar is not a waste of money just because its over 150$ any idea?
First, why do you need to explain your purchases to your girlfriend? I don't know your relationship with her, but I wouldn't even have mentioned it to her. Second, you should consider whether the financial decision to purchase will impact you or her in a negative way. If a $150 purchase is really that big a deal, then maybe you're overstretching yourself and may have to sell it short-term at a loss. If $150 is not a big deal, then why is she fussing about it?
How much over $150? Kitco 10oz. currently $183.60 Apmex 10oz. currently $181.80 plus shipping on each.
Buy five of them, and when she stands there speechless, tell her to keep her opinions to herself next time because you are a man not a whipped servant.
Ya tell her its your money and you'll do what you want with it. This works until your married than you can turn your man card in.
I have considered posting a similar issue, but in my case it's my wife. She doesn't have the same interest in bullion investing as I do, and it really irritates me that she is keeping me from investing as much as I would like to invest. I think she views my bullion purchases as part of my coin collecting hobby, and not as an asset and a store of wealth. I have tried explaining to her how silver is a hedge against inflation, and I took her to a coin store once to witness my purchase of silver eagles. Still, she can't seem to appreciate that when I buy silver, I am actually saving money. So, I have to be sneaky. I have a modest allowance of $60 per week that I can spend on whatever I choose; and I have been spending it all on silver an coffee. However, my goal is to buy one roll a month, and $60 per week doesn't cut it. Whenever, I go to the grocery store or drugstore to buy something, I always use my debit card and take out extra cash of $10 or $20 that I stash away for my next purchase. I should have enough cash by mid February for a roll. It really ****es me off, but I haven't made an issue of it. We have no debt other than our house, we are both putting money away in retirement accounts, and we have a healthy savings account balance that we fund every month that will see us through any emergency or loss of income. Still..... she likes cash in the bank and doesn't think silver is in any way equivalent. Nice to get this off my chest, but the next step is to confront her with what I want to do with my share of the money that I bring in, so I can do it openly.
Show her a 10 year chart of silver prices. Then let her read a couple of articles by Ted Butler and explain that he is a reknowned silver analyst and you are following expert advice. Good Luck!:thumb:
it is when17 and have no job and she's planning on moving out of her moms place and wants me there ( im not intioll i get my deploma and a carrer going)
i guess im lucky my gf likes going to the coin shop and buying coins with me =), she also goes metal detecting with me:hug:
Ditto If she fusses at your hobby, sounds like you need to get an upgraded gf. Trust me...I have dropped larger amounts of money on stuff that i will never get anythign back. At least you stand a chance to make your initial investment back and then some.
