This is a very good read. True or not . cant seem to upload the url but its really good http://www.viewzone.com/fakegold.html what do you think dave
Great Article Dave!!, I really enjoyed reading it!! now all we need to do Is find away into the Gold Vault, I will bring the drill......LOL
It's basically more scare tactics written with a political agenda in mind. They are taking a story that has some truth to it and twisting it all around to make it suit their needs. Yes, there were some fake gold bars discovered not long ago. Yes, they were made of tungsten. This stands to reason because tungsten is about the only metal that closely matches gold in density and thus weight. This was all reported in the numismatic press so it's certainly not some big secret. And the fake gold bars were not discovered in Fort Knox. I have no clue where that idea came from. As I recall, they were found in New York.
My understanding is that the author, Dan Eden, is a writer and researcher in the areas of alien abductions and similar topics. I don't see much in the article that can be verified. Things like this are of no value to gold investors and collectors. I've added a link to a slightly more balanced view. http://www.321gold.com/editorials/casey/casey012510.html
Doug, this would be the first hard bit of news I've seen on the subject: everything else has been single unnamed sources with so little detail there wasn't even a way to check. Do you have links available? Were they LBMA Good Delivery bars?
I did a little research and #1 I can't find ANY source that is reputable to substantiate this story and #2 I highly doubt the United States would try and pull a fast one like that. That whole article and all the others regarding that story stink of an agenda that resembles that of the tabloids I stare at while in line at the supermarket.
For the conspiracy types, I'd like to see the government make this offer: They can go into Fort Knox and arbitrarily pick out a few bars of gold and have them slice each bar in half in front of TV camera. if it turns out to be a tungsten center, they prove their point. if it turns out to be gold, then the conspiracy types who demanded this be proven must pay the associated costs of getting them into (and out of) Fort Knox, the cost to remelt the split bar back into standard gold bars and finally, an additional $10,000 for making an unsubstantiated claim.
Gee whiz, if people are gonna start be held accountable for what they say, then they might as well keep shut, oh wait that might not be such a bad idea.
Well the one and only time members of the public and the media were allowed into Fort Knox was in 1974 and that was to quell rumors that the gold was non existent. So you never know.
Enlightening "Link" I believe the attached link may be useful in understanding the correlation between Gold, other metals, and the reality/practicality of its' use in counterfeiting efforts. http://www.commodityonline.com/news/Tungsten-and-its-use-in-making-fake-gold-22919-3-1.html
I think a more legitimate question is, who owns the gold? It might not belong to the Treasury or Fed if it was sold years or decades ago and is just being held in storage for the buyer.
Fake gold at Ft. Knox wouldn't even surprise me at all. There is definatly a reason why the last "audit" was right before we went off the gold standard. Not even sure if that audit counted since nobody authenticated the gold..
OHHHH and all the new gold Eagles for 2010 are tungsten filled coins! And the president is a blowup doll And aliens are invading the eearth laying siege to the capital. And lemons used to be 10k gold but were hollowed out and filled with juice. And money grows and falls of trees. Thats why christmas is after fall so everyone spends the money they find. If we all believed every piece of dudi that came out of someone mouth then its safe to say LSD would be the new gold. lol
free speech and were they tested but who does own the the gold the fed has been working hard lately the fed has not got a audit that that i can remember it should be done.
The article states MILLIONS of Bars.. Are there that many Bars in the World? I thought we were looking at an Olympic size pool or Two..
if one of my gold eagle or buffalo contained tungsten. then it will be a unique piece. my auction price will be in the billion at least. anyway. i will sell it krispy or yankee at a bargain and fair price.
I'm not saying anything one way or the other, but let me pose this question: Why should we trust the government so, when it -- the Fed, the Congresses, etc. -- is all run by individuals who, being your standard human issue types with great avarice and selfishness and self-indulgence, folks who are not above pulling tricks on the citizenry? I, for one, simply do not trust them and will not be surprised to find that "some" gold is counterfeit. I also would not be surprised to find that much of the gold actually was pure, but that some of it is missing. Not that it matters anyway, since our currency is backed by the "full faith and credit of the United States Government." Uh, wait just a minute ... Just sayin' ... 'sides, I love conspiracy stories even if I don't buy into them.
Billin colo asks, possibly rhetorically but he did ask, "Why should we trust the government" Because they are elected by the GREAT AMERICAN PEOPLE!!!!
