It’s looking rather common, but the officina mark B in the reverse field has, according to David Sear, only been observed on 3 coins. Mine is (at least) number 4. Edward the Confessor (1042-1066) Pointed Helmet penny of Langport by the moneyer Aegelwine. When this coin appeared it extended the operation of this small Somerset mint by one issue, or up to 3 years from 1053 to 1056, the previous latest known issue from the mint being Expanding Cross.
Nvb, I agree, the similarity is more than casual. With both tribes living in close proximity there must have been cultural exchanges, or your coin is indeed made by the Veneti Tribe, but at a later date. With so many Celtic tribes having no written language the best we can do is make educated guesses about these coins...
About 2 years ago I knew nothing about the ancients. My US coin collection was at the point where I couldn't do much more without spending mega bucks. I started getting uncleaned lots. I made up my mind to clean, identify and catalog 100 ancients. I got to about 120 and stopped. I may do more, but, they too are getting expensive and difficult to find decent coins to work with.
