Last week I visited a new shop that specializes in world coins. The drawback of this as opposed to where I normally go is they know what stuff is worth, so I'm unlikely to get a great deal. But they had a great selection too and I got a lot of nice stuff, including many things I've never seen. Here's an example of what I picked up. I have a bunch of pics so be patient. Here's the first group of European stuff.

This is the most Danish West Indies coins I've ever seen for sale in one place. 1859 danish west indies 10 cents.jpg 1868 danish west indies 1 cent.jpg 1883 danish west indies 1 cent.jpg 1905 danish west indies 5 cents.jpg 1905 danish west indies 10 cents.jpg

Africa. The West African coins look like they came from the mint yesterday, and the 1955 and 1960 South Africans are proofs. 1896 south africa 2 shillings.jpg 1897 south africa 1 shilling.jpg 1897 south africa sixpence.jpg 1916 german east africa 20 heller.jpg 1936 kn west africa 1 penny.jpg 1936 west africa half penny.jpg 1955 south africa sixpence.jpg 1960 south africa 1 shilling.jpg

Philippines. It's funny because someone posted on here recently about Philippines coins being hot. This place had pages and pages of Philippines but unfortunately I didn't have a list of what I still needed or needed to upgrade, but I got these. 1885 philippines 50 centavos.jpg 1903 s philippines 1 peso.jpg 1904 s philippines 50 centavos.jpg 1909 s philippines 1 peso.jpg 1920 philippines 50 centavos.jpg

These are from a few different places. The Bolivian coin looks better than the photos could capture. The Peru is really nice too. 1862 sonora quarter real.jpg 1879 peru 10 centavos.jpg 1927 palestine 100 mils.jpg 1939 bolivia 50 centavos.jpg

Here's the last group. The Ceylon looks brand new. The German coin is the one real steal I got in this visit. I think they thought it was just a regular corroded World War II coin, but it's actually from the Allied occupation and pretty rare. The Tonga coin is just weird. The Japanese coin is also in great shape, and the last is from Japanese occupied China which is becoming a new interest of mine. 1892 ceylon 10 cents.jpg 1935 new guinea 3 pence.jpg 1946 f germany 10 pfennig.jpg 1978 tonga paanga.jpg japan 20 sen.jpg manchukuo chiao.jpg

Like a kid with money burning a hole in his pocket entering a new candy store. LOL

    Hello Dragon,
Wasn't there a CT post recently asking about dealers of foreign coins?
(Could have imagined it in my dotage)
This looks to be an excellent place for foreign coin collectors..Thanks for the Heads Up,
    J.T.

Yeah, that other post was from me too. This was the one promising place I came upon in my search.

How much did that cost? I never know there was a Danish West Indies.

This was maybe a dollar or two. Pretty good deal. Danish West Indies is now the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Nice haul. The ones that jump out at me are the 25 and 50 bit Danish West Indies coins — nice examples, particularly the 25. Also really like the British West Africa penny. Not rare at all, but of historic value because of Ed the 8th, and a very nice example. Just a lot of stuff to like here. Well done, sir!
