Our local club has an annual exhibit night in September that any club member can enter. We typically get 10-15 members to participate and everyone in attendance gets to cast a vote for their favourite. It had to be cancelled last year for obvious reasons. It's something I participate in annually but typically don't get many votes. Nonetheless, I really enjoy it. This year my exhibit centered around the 1909 Hudson-Fulton ANS medal. It is 4" in diameter and weighs over 10 ounces. The exhibit included other ephemera including a full set of the Turkey Red tobacco cards that commemorated the event. To my surprise, I received the most votes this year which entitled me to first pick of the prizes. Being a, mostly, world coin guy there were not many things on the table that interested me. I have always wanted a 1964 half dollar with the accented hair but never enough to buy one so it was an easy choice for me. Actually, I did one at the 2019 WFOM in Chicago. We didn't go this year but it will be re-worked before next year's show.
Congratulations! I have belonged to only one club that sponsored an event like that at their meeting. It was money years ago. I was fortunate enough to win with a display about the three cent piece.
I love our club meetings. We have a speaker every month except for exhibit night and our holiday banquet.
