    Folks,

Let's drop a congratulatory note to our own Lord Marcovan. His elongated coin collection has been officially recognized AND cataloged in an internationally renown online exonumia catalog. Each and every one of his five varieties has been recognized and displayed for posterity.

This website is the pinnacle information repository for all things exonumia. To get listed, one's work must catch the attention of a member subscriber and be deemed worthy for inclusion. Each piece must then be photographed, vetted for suitability, and added to the catalog through a lengthy contribution process.

Here is a link to the catalog page where you can review them for yourself.

It is deserved recognition and also karma, rightly deserved payback for all the good deeds he has done for our community and others including animals.

    Whaaa? Wow!

Now I need to scrounge up my old wooden dollars and wooden nickels, and the rare, laser-engraved LordM wooden $5 tokens (of which only ten were produced. I doubt I still own one of those myself!)

There is also a pair of die trial pieces for the 2019 and 2020 elongates- one on a Zincoln and one on a clad Roosevelt dime.

With only 30 known, it is the rarest LordM swag currently available on the market, so to speak.

I only know the whereabouts of perhaps one of the early-2000s-vintage laser-etched woodies (of which 10 were made). The person who has that also has the two unique die trial elongates on Zincoln and clad Roosie host coins.

I was not planning on doing a 2021 issue, but this thread has inspired me. Made a call to my dealer friend in NC (@Aethelred), who has the only complete collection of LordM swag. (Or nearly complete- I don’t think even he has the Type 4 2020 cent, come to think of it.)

Anyway, I just called him about acquiring host coins for a 2021 batch. Depending on supplies available, the following types are being discussed, in order of preference:

    • Silver British sixpence (George VI, 1937-1952)
    • Bronze British “Wren” farthings, ditto
    • Silver Canadian “Schooner” dimes (George VI & QE2, 1937-1968)
    • Silver Roosevelt dimes (1946-1964, if the World coin types don’t pan out)
Then maybe host coins sent off to Cindy
Calhoun by the end of the month, to possibly have them elongated in time for Christmas. Maybe.

The 2021 issue would have the same design with rope-style border as the 2019 issues (Type 1 & 2), but will likely be undated. It’s just too expensive in time and costs to have new dated dies made every year, much as I liked having my 2019 and 2020 issues dated. I might do a holed issue like the 2019 Type 1A variant.

(Speaking of which, @ZoidMeister - I see your Type 1 is a 1B- the non-holed variant. Do you have a holey one, too? If not, I shall have to fix that- and find you some of the old pre-2008 woodies.)

You may be pleasantly surprised when you receive the coins I sent in exchange for the holey half dime… :)
