    Hello,
I'm new to the forum and coin collecting in general. I have an interest in Silver Eagles, for myself or perhaps as gifts. Unfortunately, I have no idea which on-line dealers are legit. I would appreciate any information as to reliable internet companies from which to purchase ASE's.

Thanks again in advance for your recommendations...Jeff

Mintproducts.com. I've used and trusted 'em for years.

I also use mintproducts.com. But you should be aware that they are very very slow -- but entirely reliable.

    Welcome to CoinTalk.

I've had fast and trustworthy service from Gainesville Coins, but I've never ordered silver eagles from them. They have a very well layed out website, and ordering is super easy.

Not sure really - I guess I just like the idea of a great-looking, big silver coin in basically perfect condition.

Hey Jeff, where in Bucks County? I used to live in Riegleville as a lad....:)

I have ordered NGC slabbed ASEs from Gainesville in the past year. They were easy to deal with, even when I was disappointed with my order after my coins arrived. They were certified MS coins but contained milk spots. I returned them, full refund, no hassles and no questions asked.

Here is a post I made last year with the coins from that order.

I live outside of Morrisville in Lower Bucks. Where is Riegleville? I didn't grow up here so I don't know the whole county that well.

Are you buying in bulk? Rolls at a time or individuals? Shipping eats up any savings when you buy single coins.

I was thinking initially of individual coins, but I see what you mean about shipping. Are ASE's usually available at coin shows? If so, should I be concerned about counterfeit coins? There is a local show in a week or so and I was thinking of checking it out.

A local show or local dealer would be the best place to go for individual coins. There is virtually no chance of getting a counterfeit. ASEs are one of the best coins to collect starting out because things like condition, cleaning, counterfeits, etc... are not an issue in determining value.

  18. I have used mintproducts.com to purchase ASEs on a number of occasions and have never had problems. Their prices are a little bit higher than some of the other online dealers but the quality of the coins is great and the shipping is very reasonable. I have never found them to be slow as some have mentioned but that may be because I live relatively close to their location.
