allot of dealers go off popularity of the coin in question sure they may be cheaper to buy, but when you go to sale you won't get the maximum return, that has been my experience. Similar to buying premium bars and generic, same PM content, but you will always get less, for the less known /popular vs generic
For what ever reason many people hate bit coin in this room, they sure were hating at 29, not so much at near 50 however.
Hate or uniformed... or all the above? coming around the corner and the ASE leading.... heck yeah... USA ........ u voted twice mpcusa mpcusa
#1, Pre33 gold near spot #2, AGE #3, Kug I started buying 24k coins but realized they were not as easy to buy/sell with larger premium spreads. Buffalo's are not flat and have thin raised edges making stacking in a tube a pain. Maple leaf's open smooth fields show the tiniest of marks that your eyes are automatically attracted to. Leaf's also have no *ping*.
Historically, Krugs have been the overall most popular since they are the original mass-produced gold bullion coin. Most contemporary POPULAR I'd say AGE's...majority of folks have nationalistic attitudes and most recognizable and confidence. MY preferred most popular and favored...Maples and Krugs which, locally, sell for lower premiums (cheaper) and if you sell will minimally get spot price or slightly above. AGE's on the other hand have the highest premium (most expensive) and when you sell you get above spot, but NOT all your premium back. By my calculations locally the shop makes ~$26 minimum on each ounce AGE when you sell. The type I most have...OMP full oz and fractional China Pandas from reputable sources in complete and partial date sets. Expensive for numismatic increases (some HUGELY)/bullion/key collecting but not "stacking". I'm doing the same with cherrypicking fractional AGE's as well. Me...quite the rounded variety basket based on matching the coin for intent, quantity vs quality.
I have only a few gold coins and hardly any that are 1 oz. I buy them because I like them, like the Mercury gold dime, not for their value, so can't vote in this poll.
I tend to think it's more of a sustaining trend...everyone likes Australia, "Aussies," etc. If it had been from Ireland, bet it would be even MORE popular...EVERYONE want to be Irish, at least on/around Saint Patrick's Day. That said, I don't go with trends or the popular so much...even if for a better investment/return. Afraid a bit more of an unabashed, idealistic, red-blooded and even a nationalistic American to be sure. GO Buffalo and AGE's...get after them Aussie 'lopes, 'roos and wallabies even if you don't ultimately catch 'em...!
I think everybody that invests know what Krugger is ,and is recognized right away especially in foreign countries, many in foreign countries dont trust US Gold similar to are distrust of anything made in China..LOL
