According to this video and other sources the US Mint is going to have an auction to auction off coin sets supposedly minted by the main talking head of the US Mint himself David J. Ryder! I thought the auction would be only for the main bullion distributors for the US Mint but it's going to be open to the public! Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here. What do you think? This could be fun for some and a disaster for others, I'm not the one with deep pockets so it won't affect me one way or the other, how about you?? Will you be a bidder?? https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-coins/u-s-mint-plans-public-auction-of-ryder-struck-coins
Wow, what a deal. People can get them and stack them up with all their First Strikes, Early Release, First Day Issue, etc. and other junk.
Yeah ... I don't really get it. The presses are automated, so Mr. Ryder presses the START button and stands around for a 10-minute photo op and we're off to the auction site! He's not really minting anything and there's no reason why anyone should care about the whole affair. Unlike a lot of folks here, I give the mint credit for trying, which I sincerely believe they are doing. But they are so far down this rabbit hole of manufactured rarity and phony hype I fear they won't get back on solid ground for a while. I hope they do.
Yeah, the new reverse looks kinda nice, in fact I was thinking of buying a 1/10th gold at one time. Still thinking about it but I won't be buying a four coin set at the auction, I just wonder if they're gonna Youtube the auction or Zoom it? Time will tell, I doubt if they'll have it on ebay but you never know!
