The citizens of North Carolina are spoiled. We do have a sales Tax of 7% on about everything but grocery items. In 2019, the state raised the sales tax from 5% to 7%. There was an uprising, but it didn't do anything. I use to go to California to visit my parents in Castroville. One Summer, we brought summer clothes for our children. When we left North Carolina, it was 93 degrees. When we landed in San Francisco, it was 47 degrees. We went to a mall and bought warmer clothes for our three children. The price itself was almost double what we would have paid for the clothes in North Caroline, then they added California's sales tax of 7%. Talk about sticker shock. There was a local model show (and sell). As I usually carry cash in case my credit card wouldn't take. (My first hobby was building plastic model airplanes. I had to quit because my fingers quit working.)
Back to the topic, I have not been to a show in North Carolina. Is there anyplace that has a calendar of shows? There was one in Raleigh, but I was not able to go. Like I asked.... Is there a calendar of shows?
Thanks for all the information I get from reading all that is in Coin Talk.

No, it's been at its current rate since 2002, I think. Are you thinking about the let's-tax-Internet-sales party that started in 2019 across the country?

We stopped taxing coins and precious metals in 2017.

I don't know if the current virus has altered or cancelled any of listed shows in NC. Might want to investigate further before traveling to any. The calendar I consider has listed the upcoming shows:

Thanks for posting that link, meant to do it myself and forgot. I usually just Google "Raleigh coin show 2021", but that link is one of the first ones that comes up. It lists shows throughout the state.

The big June show happened this year, and I think the smaller Raleigh shows are back on as well. Crossing my fingers that this Delta-variant uptick and low vax rates aren't enough to shut them down again.

Have not been to Georgia but I have not found bullion at spot anywhere, including Summer FUN in Orlando.

In fact, at the Raleigh show I think the dealers were paying fairly close to spot for bullion. Then again, I was only trying to sell junk silver and maybe gold coins, not bars or rounds.

You will never be able to buy Silver or Gold at the spot price as that's not how it works. You will always pay a premium over spot prices and right now the premium on Silver is crazy high, like $11-$15 over the spot price of every ounce. A couple of years ago you could go to your LCS and pay $2-$3 over spot for an ounce of Silver but those days are over!

Having just been at the FUN Show in Orlando this month, I can say from first hand observation that there were almost no dealers selling silver bullion, raw coins from any origin. There were some bars yes, but if there were any they were graded and slabbed. I think it is indicative of the bullion market in general, although that seems to be loosening up a bit now. (The FUN Show was 2 weeks ago).
